pixelating wrongness, but only in final preview window???

Ok weird one here hope you can help.

I use 2 cameras the dv is perfect but my other one is a sanyo xacti, which I like and use often as it fits in my pocket.

The films i get in the video section down the righthand side ready to imput into the time line are fine, and when i play them as a clip they are fine but played as a project the go all pixelated and warpy, and when i cut a dvd they stay like this too anyone know what im doing wrong please?

I may have some setting wrong as Im a complete newb so any setting suggestions would be helpfull too thanks.
pc is an athlon 64 3800 with a 6800 gt vid card

Does the problem affect the video from both cameras, or just the Xacti? What are the properties of the files you are adding to the project (right-click on the video, select Properties, paste them here)?

If the video is being upsampled because its resolution is less than that of the DVD project, then some pixelation will always result.

Have you checked the "Field Order" if you have this the wrong way round it causes jerkiness.

it says width 640 res 96 pixels/inch
height 480

format windows bitmap
no compression

the vid is fine in clip view but not project view thats the weird thing

whats field order where do i find that please?
