Hi Wietse
Thanks for the addition details, seems clear now.
The four projects (not the first since it is using this as intro) become the chapters of the DVD. So far it all makes sense I guess.
These are more commonly known as Titles

Ok
Your third image showing the Background video is not what you need to use , that would replace the buff coloured background, it does not affect the Thumbnail showing on the Title Menu.
As you have found, returning to the first window where you added the project files, you can select any Title/thumbnail, play or reposition the cursor, right click the thumbnail for Change Thumbnail, that frame will now be used on the main Title Menu, effectively replacing the black frame

The instructions I gave above are what you need to use to get what you want.

Yes, that's the way. What a selection of a video background for the menu does (when it works) is replace the video element of the menu theme you chose, with the background you want - the other elements of the menu such as titles, buttons, fonts are unchanged.
An example from a project DVD I did on Dance using X10 nearly 3 years ago is shown in this screenshot
Dance DVD with menu background video.jpg
The suppression of video audio still applies - so in this shot I used a classical music clip to suit the imagery for the menu music.

So if this is what you want to do, get and install an older version of VS where this feature still works.

Trevor,
getting bounced out to the login page after having logged in, composing a reply and losing it when submitting is getting damned irritating.

Irritating yes, but when this happens, if you hit 'Go back one page', the page with your comment will be there and then you can copy it and paste it back in after relogging in.

Hi,
I've not experienced what tletter describes, altho I've tried it looking for why it happens often enough.
It seems to happen to me most often when clicking the last post or the topic links in a topic notification mail.
And it seems that more than a few users are affected.
