Resize and Cropping issue
When I first start Corel VideoStudio Ultimate 2020, resizing and cropping works just fine. However, if I do other adjustments, I can no longer activate the resizing and cropping tool. They pop up but there is no orange handles to drag for resizing or cropping handles to adjust. I have to exit the program entirely, wait for about 30 seconds, restart CVS and then it works again. Frustrated.

Re: Resize and Cropping issue
You haven't outlined just what you are doing - workflow, functions in use, clips in which tracks, for example - but
- the sizing handles appear around a clip when it is in an overlay track and selected: you are in clip mode (clip vs project, below the preview screen). If you choose project mode at this stage, the sizing handles vanish, VS assumes the clip size is right for you.
- using the term cropping tool implies the use of a cropping filter applied to a clip. Are you using one?
- the orange handles at right and left hand of a clip or the project (depends on mode) are for trimming the length of a clip/project, altho that could be called cropping in a crude sense. There is a more useful cropping tool in the filter list you can use for that. Trimming handles are not displayed for a clip/project if you are/have been in another mode, like text or transitions. To get them back, you need to have selected the media mode (icon at the top of the tool bar in the library) when you select a clip or project.

Hi
Are you referring to the distort tools for Scale and Crop?
I find them annoying that they remain active for all clips even though I only used on one clip.
You can select the two tools from the icon below the preview screen where you should be able to turn on the feature, as attached image.

Re: Resize and Cropping issue
I know how to use the tools for cropping and resizing. As I stated earlier, if I use these when CVS first opens, they work just fine. I'm talking about clips used in the overlay tracks. Double clicking the clip on the play screen activates the resizing orange handles and I can switch to cropping if that is what I want. I can also choose the tools directly as shown in the second response.
However, if I use do other things in my production and come back to try to use these tools, double-clicking the picture or trying to select the tools directly, as shown in the second response, nothing works. No handles appear. Resizing and cropping are no longer an option. If I exit CVS completely, wait 30 seconds and restart the options of resizing and cropping are once again available and work as they should.
I've ran a repair on CVS several times and that does not work.

Re: Resize and Cropping issue
Hi
There is shall we say an anomaly, ok maybe a bug that as far as I know has never been reported before
When editing if we add a FX filter the FX remains selected until we choose another library option
With that FX highlighted some features of the program just do not work
I have noticed with other editing features but is the first time I have checked the Scale Crop options
Next time any item does not respond to a mouse click look at the FX, if its highlighted select the top Media then try the crop.
Let us know how you get on
Ok just tested again and now it works ok every time, typical

Yes, topic notifications to me since March 21 are logged out of the sever, and just "disappearing", meaning they never arrived and there is no evidence of what happened to them - but only those mails. Every other mail to the same address is arriving normally. Trevor and Ken are aware, lots of backchannel chat and testing: probably as frustrated as I am, and I've been posting under this username as a means of generating notifications and thus giving the ISP something to monitor, in the hope of establishing a cause. 18 or 19 times in the last 3 weeks. But from the lack of progress on it I don't think the ISP knows what it did to create the problem.
