Windows 7 is still popular

Post by Davidk »

For those who might be interested, a google search of world usage of windows 7 - depending on the source of the data - shows that it is still significant.
- Statscounter, logs it as 19.97% in May 2020
- Net Applications logs it in the bracket of 25-29% for March/April 2020
- Net Market Share has it as 28% in May 2020

A lot depends on where those organisations source their data, and how often the sample is taken. For example, in schools, use of win 7 is around 15%. The results they publish rarely contain that sort of information.

Hi Adi,
Yes, I know. But 20-25% of the total windows user base is not an insignificant customer target. And if you look at the stats, even XP3 has a larger following than 8, which is still supported. But windows 10 has screwed me over so much with various issues, mainly but not solely with Video Studio, that I prefer to keep using win7 as long as I can.
