Blu-ray will not install VideostudioX10

Post by p0pp13 »

I get an error every time trying to install the blu-ray plugin that I just bought
"The Installed version of the application could not be determined. The Setup will now Terminate" Why let me buy something if there is a compatibility issue?

This error message normally appears if the plugin you are trying to install is already installed, are you sure that Blu-Ray for X10 has not previously been installed

VSX10 may have been the last version which included the Blu-ray plugin, long time ago now, so not sure

Hi
I do not get that error when installing the Bluray plugin, the installer seems to run without error.

Can you tell us the size in Kb when viewing the file, for X10 my version is 4,627Kb and called “VideoStudioX10_Blu-ray.exe”

Robert,
The last version with Bluray as standard looks to have been X9. With X10 (and onwards), the plug-in is missing from the installer files. Selecting the X10 ultimate Share/disk/BR option gives you a buy panel for $11.95 if the plug-in is not installed, not an error message.

Not really important and drifting from the OP’s post, but afaik X8 was the first version to use a separate Bluray plugin, free, Prior to that Bluray was installed as part of the programs.
X9 I believe was the first version to provide the Bluray plugin at an extra cost.

p0pp13
If my memory serves me there have been at least one other report of the Bluray plugin failing to install
If you can provide details of the files size then we should be able to id the version you have been provided with.

If it is installed already then Corel owes me $8 because it made me buy it. And it still doesn't work.

File size? Of what? I don't have a blu-ray file to install. If you mean the file I am trying to save as BR it is just over 2gig.

Hi p0pp13
From your first post you provided a screen shot of the Corel VideoStudio BD Pack
The error message is indicating that the Video Studio version is not installed.
So how did you get to that point?
Did Corel provide you with a link to download a file, or was the link to auto install the BluRay plugin.
If the latter then the auto install will first download the installation file possibly to your %temp% folder from there install the plugin.
It is only by finding that file will we be able to identify the version it was intended for.

I would run the installation again upto the windows error message, keep that message open.
When you close that message or the installation completes it is probable that the temp files are removed.
Look in the %temp% folder for (VideoStudioX10_Blu-ray.exe) or any similar file.

If you wish send me the link using the Private Messages option, I will try to identify the file

Ok
If the installation was through Video Studio program via Restore Purchases then I don’t think we can help and you should contact Corel Support.

You could try re-installing CVS X10, use the cleanup tool to uninstall, then try installing BD Plugin

^^ I did a reinstall last night but no dice. I bought the BR authoring plugin last night via the program and I've been stuck with this since.

Off to customer service I guess

Thx

Hi
Its possible that they have provided the wrong Plug-In version and not one for X10.
So what do you select to start the installation, as I said I think that will download the file to the %temp% folder, then install from there.
Mind you if you did locate the file and it’s the wrong version then that does not help and your back to Corel Support.

Hi ryoko
If you have located a file in %temp% that indicates it is a Bluray plugin then for X10 it should indicate 20.0.0.0 and not 23.0.0.0
23.0 would indicate that the file is for video studio 2020

Can you confirm which program you are using.

Correct, I'm using video studio x10, and the folder is for 2020. After a fresh install i try to restore purchase and the error window appears (the installed version could not...) . Then I search on %temp% and find that folder with 23 instead of 20... i try on second computer and the folder created is the same... is there any place to download the setup for the x10? . Or someone can copy and share from their %temp% folder ???
