can I burn to a USB the same as a DVD

Post by Markstid »

Hi everyone.. I have been using VideoStudio for a few years now. When I travel I like to create a movie. I use multiple projects that are smart packaged and then burn them to DVD with titles. DVD's are becoming slightly obsolete. Can I do the same thing using a USB. I have spent hours looking for this answer. Whilst I see I can export TO USB I can't join the projects and use the titles having it have like a movie. Any help appreciated. Mark

When you create a Smart Package, you can select the "Folder path" which can be set to any accessible drive, including a USB drive.

Unfortunately, there is not an option to burn a disk-image to usb, with titles. That would require an ability to format the usb as though it was a disk. You can do that to an SD card, but not usb.
Burning to a USB stick is entirely possible using the computer file approach, but in that case you don't get any titles.

As a workaround, maybe you can consider the following for a PC target, but probably it would not work for a TV set:
create the project for a disk, including titles.
- at the disk burn panel, step 3, choose to make an iso file in lieu of burning a disk.
- locate the destination of that iso file on a usb stick
- exit VS when completed
- copy the VLC player onto the usb stick.
- start VLC on the target device and use VLC to play the iso file, which will give you the disk titles as well as the various video clips on it.

OR
you could experiment with the iso file and a usb stick - see if any of the various iso image burning programs will allow you to burn the iso image to a usb stick: if it does then that image includes titles. See if that will play on a TV that has a usb input.
