Just between these two editors, does anyone know if Pinnacle offers a more solid platform for video editing? Plus are there specific features I lose?
I've used VideoStudio for a couple years but upgraded to 2020 and have had to contact Corel with several bugs (transparent png overlays not showing as transparent, large text with motion cutoff letters, repeated crashes on a brand new system without any legacy software, etc.)
The response to every support request is to reset your VS settings - which is just lazy and pushes the actual support back to the 2nd, 3rd, and/or 4th attempt.
As you can tell, I'm pretty frustrated with the state of things with the new product and the lackluster support.
We are also considering making the jump to Premiere Pro. We already use Creative Cloud for Photoshop and Lightroom. I know Premiere has its own challenges with complexity but I am hopeful there may be a stronger knowledgebase and support options.
All thoughts welcome.

Pinnacle works differently, if you wants to know it's mishaps visit it's forum and read comments.
What's wrong of keep working with non current VS version?

Re: Videostudio vs Pinnacle
When we upgraded to 2020, we installed it on a clean system which is used primarily for Videos and other content. I suppose I can remove 2020 and find the download for an older version - using an old install key.
At that point, I guess the question is why should I have to? Why are features that used to work broken and what is the ultimate benefit of upgrading? Are there new features we'll lose reverting to an older version?
What I would like even more is some acknowledgement by Corel of the 2020 bugs and an idea when/if they are going to be fixed.

Re: Videostudio vs Pinnacle
Version issues - are a perennial complaint: Why should you have to upgrade to a broken system is a repeating commentary, one that Corel has consistently ignored. You shouldn't. But some new features are useful, and VS is - still - the most user friendly editor for the basic things. If it wasn't, no amount of new gizmos would save Corel from the desertion of the faithful experiencing continuing unreliability.
But if the company continues to have deaf ears to the users, that situation can't continue.
The competence of the Corel support team is forever in question - it's not a surprise that most users either find their way here, or are even by many user remarks referred by Corel itself.
As to 2020, there have been 2 service packs so far, with literally pages of bugs fixed, and each SP has exceeded 1gb in size. That's not only large but a telling number: roughly 20% of the entire package has been replaced or modified by each of the service packs. The 3rd SP supposedly has been reported as having 83 more bug-fixes in it, if it ever arrives. And I have resorted (a personal quirk) to not using the latest version until the usual June service patch is released.
The fix list for 2020 is, on past experience, much more extensive than normal. Is Corel silently trying to make VS more reliable?? Possible, but no one is saying: however, the company would get cred from a simple statement of intent in that regard.
