1. I was working on editing a new video, and each time I did a cut, and then went to delete the not wanted clip, the scrubber would go back on the Timeline to 00.00, and I would have to go back and find where I was in editing the video clips. This happened so many times it was a pain. Is this another bug in Video Studio Pro Ultimate 2020?
2. I have been using VS for less than two months. Frankly, manipulating around it is really nerve racking. Prior to VSP I was using Microsoft Movie Maker - and it showed me all clips on the screen without having to "Fit Project in Timeline," and then to use + and - to find where I was working on the Timeline. Maybe I need a tutorial to understand this Timeline use better?

I am not sure how you are doing the cut but I cannot duplicate your problem.PRIEST wrote:1. I position the cursor and do a split. THen I reposition the cursor and do another split. I then select the segment between the two splits, hit delete and the selected segment disappears and the cursor stays at the 2nd split position.
Perhaps you are doing it differently. If yes then please describe your method.

Re: Returning to Timeline after delete of clip
I appear to be doing as you do. BUT, I have rippling turned on (Blue). I learned thru Trevor in Forum that an error message of "encountered an improper argument" was a bug when rippling was turned on. For this new "returning to timeline " issue", I will turn rippling off for video and title and see if this issues goes away. I will report back.
Any comment on my #2 issue on trying to become more efficient using the timeline? I find myself using "Fit Project in Timeline" when doing 20 minute videos, and then using + and to set my cursor/scrubber where I can get a good look at an individual clip.

Re: Returning to Timeline after delete of clip
Hi Steve
Just cannot make it up, I launched 2020 to check details regarding your post, inserted several video clips and the program crashed, never done that before for me.
Anyway, I find setting the timelines to a 5 or 8 second zoom is good enough to view the clip at a reasonable length to be able to scrub / play and edit with the cursor not flying across the screen, right click the grey clock icon for “zoom to” options
Cutting and removing frames
Yes there can be some issues where the cut point disappears it really depends on the length of the clip and whether the entire clip is in view, especially the beginning of the clip.
If you have a short clip and the whole clip can be seen on the timeline then using the scissors creates two clips
Delete the first, the cursor remains in place relative to the timeline, the clips move left to fill the space created by deleting the clip, not a problem as we can see the remaining clip.
Repeat that with a longer clip where the beginning of the clip cannot be seen, somewhere downstream out of view, Cut and remove the first section, again all clips shuffle to the left, your cut point disappearing off screen.
And that is what I think you are experiencing.
We can use other methods to remove frames from the end of our clips.
Mark_In and Mark_Out
Position the cursor / scrubber at the position where you wish to make a cut, do not cut.
Make sure that you are in Clip view, that the clip is selected, the word clip next to the play button is highlighted
To the right below the preview screen adjacent to the scissors are Mark_In and Mark-Out square brackets, (F3-F4 on keyboard)
Press F3 and all frames to the left of the cursor will be removed, notice the white bar below the preview screen indicates the remaining clip section.
Press F4 and all frames to the right of the cursor are removed
Removing clips this way the timeline follows the cut point the cursor / scrubber remains in place.
Have a look at this web page that describes the use of the white bar and F3 – F4 options

Re: Returning to Timeline after delete of clip
Trevor, wow! Thanks for your research and very clear response. Certainly, took a lot of time - AND VERY MUCH APPRECIATED on my part. Thanks again.
The "Zoom to" is going to help a lot. It had been set to 1 sec. Now I set it to 5 sec, and will try it. Then to 8 sec and try. I tried to to change the default "zoom to" 5 sec, but in the Settings area I did not find this as a default. Guess I will have to change it for each time I do a project.
I will also practice the "Cutting and removing frames" and "Mark In and Mark Out" tips. Again many thanks. Steve
