I have submitted this to COREL support with the associated images.
I'm using VideoStudio 2020.
However, I am hoping someone in the community can provide a quicker answer.
TEXT SIZE PROBLEM: CUTOFF LETTERS
We have some words with opacity moving across screen.
If we create the text the size we want - 120pt - the word "CONSULTING" does not fit on the screen. That's fine - that's how we want it.
Unfortunately, when you add custom motion (or even motion in the text parameters), as the word scrolls across the screen, only the letters that were visible on the screen where the text was placed prior to adding motion, are visible.
In my example: CONSULTING shows up as ONSULTIN
TEXT SIZE PROBLEM: SIZE IN CUSTOM MOTION
To remedy this, we added both the words CONSULTING and INCOME at 60pt - so they fit on the screen.
Then we size them in custom motion. But "Size" in custom motion is relative to the width of the screen. So X at 100 fills the entire screen left to right if you position the text at location X=0 (middle of horizontal screen).
Unfortunately, this makes INCOME larger than the word CONSULTING and causes it to blur (pixelate).
Here is an image that shows that.
How can I add text with a large font - one that extends over the size of the screen - without having letters cutoff during motion?
And/or - how I can accurately size text the same in the custom motion screen and not have smaller words pixelate? In short, how do I best accomplish what I am trying to do - words of the same size (LARGE) scrolling across the screen across motion paths.
Thanks.
D Levy

Hi
Customise Motion aka Advanced Motion is only applied to the items / clips as you see on the preview screen
If you type your text with a smaller font so all characters are visible, position the text in the centre using the Alignment options
Then do Motion Options – Customise Motion you can now increase the size and apply the scroll effect to all text characters
In your example you are adding Customise Motion to two separate clips
From the main timelines you should undo any motion effects that may have been applied and allow the Customise Motion to do the effect.
Is there any reason why you have created two titles, you can create multiple text on the same title clip, then CM will affect both
As you have two titles
From the timelines we can right click a clip for Copy Attributes and Paste those to the second clip
Then from CM we would have to reposition the clip, but the sizes should be the same.

Re: Text Overlays - Problems with Font-size and Cut-off lett
Hi - I am working with dlevy and am up early, so I'll reply.
The two titles are going to have different custom motion - which is why they are on their own overlay.
I understand she can make the font smaller than use the size in custom motion to make the size larger. The problem is, as you make the font larger, it begins to pixelate. It seems that the vector image/object is still sized at the font-size you set the font to prior to custom motion. So, if we use 60pt because it fits on the screen and then size it larger, it loses definition.
This can be pronounced with longer words that require a smaller pt size to fit on the screen.
The 2nd problem is that, due to this, two different length words that you want to be the same size, end up being different sizes when you set the size in custom motion. The size in CM is relative to the screen. We are left to basically eye-ball it.
If there is a more precise way to accomplish this and one that does not cause the letters to begin pixelating at large sizes, that would be helpful.

Hi
Have you tried using the text editor to animate the characters
Are you aware that you can have multiple text boxes within the same clip and apply different animations.
Attached is a project file to open with 2020

Re: Text Overlays - Problems with Font-size and Cut-off lett
The reason we are using custom motion is that the motion will actually change speed as it progresses. We have other elements that will line-up with the text and/or in front of the text. Custom motion gives us far greater control over the motion and timing.
Another problem using the text motion attribute is that it still doesn't solve for the larger text cutting off. So we need to resize in the custom motion, not using pts in the text object itself.
I hope I'm making sense.
