Stop Auto Opening when saving to comp
For the life of me I can not figure out how to stop pictures from auto opening in PSP when I save them to my computer. Can someone PLEASE help me before I lose my mind. It is slowing down my work process.
To clarify - I am on a website and I save a graphic to my computer, it saves and auto opens in PSP (even if PSP not open already) making me have to go shut each and every one down.
I've looked in settings both in PSP as well as Comp (running Win10) It didn't use to do this but has for some time now and it is driving me absolutely nuts! HELP!!!! TIA!!!

Re: Stop Auto Opening when saving to comp
Try associating jpgs with another graphics program or viewer - I use Irfanview. Then see if it tries to open in PSP or the other graphics program .
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867

I agree with LeviFiction and hartpaul. That's probably a setting in your operating system or your browser.

Re: Stop Auto Opening when saving to comp
Hi There,
It looks like you are running Windows 10....
If that is the case, try going to:
- PC Settings
- Apps
- Default Apps
- scroll down & click on: Choose default apps by file type
- it will take a couple of moments to display...
then go to each graphic file type, .jpg, .gif, .png etc.....and click the icon displayed & choose a different app...
Hope this will help...

Thank you FlutteringBy - that has shown me that it is a Windows issue not Corel and made for a faster *getaway*. Now to Windows to figure out how to stop the action completely. Thanks again.

Depending upon your browser, I use Firefox, go to your browser options, Downloads....choose what you want your browser to do with the download....
I have mine set to, Always ask where to save files...that way I can direct the download to a specific folder, desktop etc....
More settings to play with...

That is what I have set to and it does that but then it opens it in my preferred program. So frustrating. I'm using Chrome.

Re: Stop Auto Opening when saving to comp
Not being a Chrome user:
"Mr." Google says:
"To to this select the menu button in Chrome > Settings. Then scroll to the very bottom of the screen and select Advanced Settings. You will then see as in the image below an option to clear auto-opening settings, click this button. Now no downloads will open once they have completed in Google Chrome"
Then another user replied that the problem still persisted...this is another suggestion that worked for this user:
"I ran into this problem also. My auto open feature was hidden in advanced settings. Settings - Advanced - Downloads. It was near the top something like "Open certain types of files after downloading" with option to clear that setting."
Hope this will help....

Re: Stop Auto Opening when saving to comp
Hi
I do use Chrome and have not had any issues with PSP opening
If Chrome opens a file after downloading then I would think it is the Windows file association that determines which program runs.
So after closing PSP, if you double click the downloaded file, what happens?
Try a right click on the file and Open With, at the bottom of the list “choose another App" that opens another panel.
What program is listed first, If its PSP then that option needs updating
Again at the bottom shows “Always use this to open” tick that option
Now choose another program, maybe your preferred image viewer.
More Apps or Look for another app.....
