If VS 2020 launches Ok, does it then crash when you open a project? If yes, with every project or only a particular project?
Have you created a new project as you were asked by Trevor in an earlier post?
When the project loads and soon as I start to play it back when editing the program will just shut down!
I've not made no new projects.
Hi Rob
A little confused and just catching up on the replies here
I thought you had problems actually starting the program where it froze with the splash screen
I assume you can now launch the program
If you are having problems with a specific project then can you tell us what type of video you are working with although you appear to mention MTS, is this correct.
If you can explain what effects or types of editing you have done then maybe we can pin down just why the program crashes so often.
Video from I-Phones can use a variable frame rate and video studio does not seem to like.
I notice you have AMD, can you deselect the acceleration options as I don’t think VS supports AMD, go to F6 – Performance tab and deselect the hardware acceleration options.

Hi Trevor
The Program will load along with my project and soon as I touch the program it will just close
I then can't open the program again until I reboot and the same thing happens.
I've decided that this version is no longer fit for purpose and have requested a refund and going back to X10 for the time being.
Ok
Does this happen with every project you use or is it just one particular project
Can you zip the vsp and attach to your post and we can have a look, wont be able to see your actual MTS but possibility re-link to my files then i should be able to see whats going on, or not

Hi Rob
Your project properties are using DVD 720 x 480 at 29.97 fps and that is NTSC standards I assume your MTS are 10920 x 1080 and using Pal at 25fps
certainly something amiss there?
taken a while but i have re-linked all your MTS to my own files
Also a little concerned with the Audio as they are MP3, if using the Lame codec can cause some problems
I would suggest you remove the 7 audio clips to see if the project plays
Not sure why you have placed all MTS on the overlay track in preference to the top main timeline.?
So far i have not had a crash, but then not linked the audio.
Can you provide the properties of your video files.
Tell us what you are intending to make as your settings / properties seem a little mixed between Ntsc and Pal, HD and SD

Hi so since re-purchased the full edition of 2020
Done a clean install of the program and working on a video project I understand there is a Service Pack 3 update?
But running into the same problem where the program randomly closes its driving me nuts.
So I've done a Clean Install of Windows 10 And Installed Studio 2020 which seems to work ok. But I think a Windows Update is the cause of the problem.
I spent over 3 hours working on a project and doing "tweaks" the program will just randomly shut down!
No real suggestions about the crashes, but at least it should be a reminder to save your project every few minutes, and perhaps give each -- or every second or third -- save a different name so you don't lose everything with a crash...
Hi Rob
My own experience in crashes is that they seem more of a problem when using projects that were first created using earlier versions of Video Studio.
I was using project from X10 and did present more problems than projects created from scratch using 2020.
Unfortunately X10 projects once opened with CVS2020 then saved cannot be opened again using X10.
Most of my projects were using MTS video.
I first started having random silent crash problems using 2018, then 2019 was particularly bad, now CVS 2020
Just simply importing MTS to the library or timelines is much slower than importing similar Mpeg4 clips, although they did address that to some extent.
They should know how to improve things as Pinnacle simply flies when importing MTS, there must be a difference in the way the two programs handle these files, this maybe too difficult for them to change Video Studio, otherwise I am sure they would have done that.
Corel do need to take this issue to hand and get it sorted but appear to be using their resources for Mpeg4 and 4K video types.
Of course silent crashes also affect other formats it is just MTS seems to suffer most.
In my experience I do not think it has anything to do with Windows Updates that is just coincidence.
Just to repeat, projects created as new with 2020 seem easier to work with than projects created with earlier VS versions.
