Studio 2020 Crashed

Post by RobCharles1981 »

So I took the plunge to re purchase Video Studio 2020, and cleaned installed the program, and had been editing a video all day today.

Not so long ago now the program randomly closed and can't restart the program.
I checked in the event log for clues and this is what it says any ideas?

Have you looked in Task Manager > Background Processes to see if some remains of the program is still running there? If so, right click it and choose End Task.

Other than that, have you rebooted the computer and tried to restart VS?

Hi Ken I've checked in TM nothing there. Tried to restart the program and is stuck on the splash screen.
The strange thing is, I know the program will load properly again when restarting my computer!

Apart from doing a complete uninstall/reinstall, all I can think of to do would be a reset. This involves going to C:\Users\[Your Name]\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64) and changing the name of the 23.0 folder to 23.0_OLD. Then try to restart VS. If it does restart, it will take some time to rebuild databases etc before it opens fully, so you need to be patient. That can take 2 or 3 minutes normally...

Hiya,

Tried the "reset option" then reloaded program and project, the program then closed again!
so doing plan B of re-installing the program - what a nightmare!

What version of the program are you running? As the program will start after rebooting, have you tried checking for any updates/patches?

That's a fair enough point tletter. But if he's reinstalling, he will get the latest version of VS from the Corel servers when he uses the installation stub file...

Hi Rob
Just a thought---- Did you install the program to the default location on the C Drive
Although we can install to another drive which should work without problems I would always recommend installing to the C Drive.
Can you give details of your project, what type of files are you using?
For example phone video using a variable frame rate always seems to upset Video Studio
If you were to create a project using the programs library samples do you have crash issues.

Hi Rob

Clutching at straws, can you disconnect your internet then try to run the program.

Does it crash when you launch VS 2020?
If VS 2020 launches Ok, does it then crash when you open a project? If yes, with every project or only a particular project?
Have you created a new project as you were asked by Trevor in an earlier post?
