VS 2020 will not open Youtube and program is too big for scr

Post by mandjvanderpol »

I have two separate unrelated issues....

1. I am trying to upload a video to Youtube and when I try to do so vs opens up a 'pop up' and asks for login. I put my email in but get this error "Couldn't sign you in
This browser or app may not be secure.
Try using a different browser. If you’re already using a supported browser, you can refresh your screen and try again to sign in." I have tried several different accounts. and only my daughters private school account allows her to 'login' (but she doesn't actually have a youtube account linked to that email address) but anything with gmail or yahoo etc. produces this error-as far as I can tell anyway.

How do I proceed beyond this error and get connected to youtube?! (I prefer not to save separately and then upload to youtube)

2. when using the program many screens are too 'big' for my laptop screen and vs doesn't provide 'scrolling' and I can't 'move' the window up anymore and I can't shrink the window down anymore either.

for example if I have the program open and go to settings/preferences and then the preferences window comes up. It is too large for my screen....I am guessing there is an 'ok' button down there but I have never seen it (I just hit 'enter') the bottom thing I can see in that window is 'display track hint on preview window'-it BARELY shows on my screen....This happens with other windows that open too but only in vs NO other program I own does this (photoshop, dreamweaver, itunes, whatever...ONLY vs does this) I have also attempted to change display settings but that doesn't help either (and I really don't want to mess things up for JUST this program when all the others are fine!

Hi mandjvanderpol
and welcome to the forums

Both of these are known issues and Corel should be aware
I can only urge you to contact Corel Support to report the problems

Using 2020, Incredibly I have just signed into my You Tube account using Chrome
This failed the last time I tried probably 2 weeks ago. I had assumed it was a problem with the Corel server. I am in the UK.
If you cannot connect to You Tube you have no choice but to render your project to a separate video file
The earlier programs afaik only had one render option but I now notice there are 7 choices from 640 x 480 upto 4K 3840 x 2160

Post Updated
2019 failed to login to YT

Oversized UI panels
In Corels attempt to cater for 4K monitors they have updated the programs panel sizes which has impacted on lower resolution monitors, at least I believe that is the reason. My pc is 1680 x 1050 and I do have some issues but can manage. A laptop with a smaller monitor makes it practically impossible to use, several other panels are affected.

Others on the forum may know of a way to tweak the Windows settings, when I tried it impacted on the rest of my programs so for me was not an option, fortunately I only used the laptop for testing.

Attached image shows Project Properties 2020, the panel fills my screen, the laptop like your view looses the lower section

Again report this to Corel Support

Just for the record, mandjvanderpol, since you are a new user, it might seem strange that we are referring you to Corel since you are now in a Corel community. But none of us here are Corel employees. This is a user to user web board, and we are users just like you who have been here for years, yes, but volunteer our time to help other users like you. Some (most?) of our answers are helpful, but sometimes we can only suggest you let Corel know when there are problems which are beyond our ability to help directly.

I had a close friend regale me with a similar problem with 2019 ultimate: a YT upload failed
And with some experimenting he found that the cause was the source file from the particular camcorder (a SONY from memory). Change the camcorder, and thus the source file became acceptable to YT. Reason unstated.

its somehow related to how vs 'talks' with youtube though as I can connect the same video with my daughters account but not any of mine?! hers has a 'private' extension @XXXXXX. So it can't be a particular source. I also tried changing many google 'settings' to try to give 'access' to my accounts (even 'matched' settings to her account) but nope it won't connect to mine. weird.

Thanks everyone. I had contacted corel too but was hoping the community had some info since Im not hopeful for helpful responses from Corel to be honest. I did do a forum search and google search and only found a couple issues showing 'youtube uploading issues' with corel and they were all with old software so I was hoping there was a work around or this had been fixed by now since there have been several new releases since the issue has been around (this doesn't make me hopeful for corel to be helping me either). Since my screen is apparently 'poor resolution' and I can't see the program well either It sounds like I just need to be looking for a different program :( if anyone has any suggestions for other comparable programs that would be great (similar price range, must be able to add text, chapters, and create dvds with menus and scenes)

update....heard back from corel regarding the youtube issue:

"Recently we have found that there are more and more users using Videostudio YouTube upload and sometimes the daily peak usage has been over the Quotas that Google limits. When the usage hit the limits, then the login issue or upload request failures might happen.
Videostudio has submitted to Google to increase the Quota limit and meanwhile when you encountered this issue, please try it again later. The usage limit will be reset daily (PST 00:00). Sorry to cause the inconvenience, hoped that this issue can be gone after you tried again in different time."

I replied back to them that this is surely not the issue because my daughters account will login fine but my accounts won't so its not a 'quota limit' issue....we will see what they come back with. Haven't heard back on the screen resolution issue yet....
