does this bug is fixed in earlier version of PSP 2018 ?

Post by Michael REMY »

hi,

i use PSP 2018 updaded on windows 7 x64.
i noticed once i saved (or saved as) a file and closed the picture, there is a long delay (like 10s) before PSP remove his "read-only access" to the folder where i saved the file.

So once, i close the picture, windows do not let me rename the parent folder, i have to wait 10s or unlock (kill the read only access from psp).

so, in earlier release of PSP, does this bug remains or is it fixed ?

Thank you for your concert.

Best regards at home !

I use PSP 2018 myself, and I notice that it has -- from the first -- taken about 10s to fully shut down, to finish its work. IOW, going to an earlier version of PSP 2018 will not get rid of the delay.
Had PS3, PSP3; Installed: PSP-4.12, 5.03, 6.02, 7.04 (liked it a lot & used it for years), 8.00, XI, x4.3.0.3, x6.2.0.20, x7.4.0.11, x8.3.0.13, x9.2.0.7; now using PSPx10 (PSP 2018; version 20.2.0.1 x64) on Win 10-64 b2004.

hi,

thank you for your reply.

it is strange, because even when you close PSP, you have to wait 10s to free the last folder contening the last working picture !! (moreoever i have a quick hardware, so it is not a question of performances).

so you think psp2020 still have this bug ?
is there a way to download a trial-30days of psp to test it without uninstall psp2018 ?

Best regards.

Yes you can. PSP versions always install in their own location. They do not overwrite each other. You will be fine installing the trial.

hello LeviFiction !
your profil said you have PSP 2019, shall you tried the bug of psp2018 in your version 2019 ?

best regard.

open a picture
save it and close it
once (really after do not wait), try to rename the parent folder and look if psp maintains his read-access forbidden to rename it ?

try a second time but also close psp after closing the picture and try to rename the folder too
do you have to wait 10s or more with psp2019 ?

I recently did a full refresh of my computer and have only re-installed PSP 2020. However, it was not unusual for many of my copies of PSP to remain running in the background for 10 seconds or more. I never rename my folders so I can't tell you if they were locked.

I am puzzled why you would want to rename a save folder so soon after you have saved an image to it.
Why not create a new folder, drag and copy the image you want to work on into that folder then from there into PSP and when finished just save it to that folder it came from and which has that new name.

.
because once i finish the work on a picture, i rename the folder (*_done) or (_need_more_work). it is the workflow here.

I would like to make a suggestion that might make your workflow more efficient. When you first create the folder in which you store your original images you could create two subfolders within it - one named Done and one named Needs More Work. Then, when you work on an image and have to save it you can simply save it in the proper subfolder. Then you will always have your originals in one folder just in case you need them in future (or you can just delete them if you don't want them), and you will also always your "work in progress" images in the Needs More Work folder in case you want to go back and try tweaking an image you had previously finished, and one folder that you know always has images you are satisfied with. Just a thought.

JoeB

no because the NAS make the versionning of folder. when it is not named with _done, it can be _beta1, _beta2,_for_XXX_client,_V1,_V2..
So the NAS manage easily the versionning than us by keeping all traces of altering work.
