Missing preset shapes.

Post by krikke »

Hello fellow PSP users, I purchased the wonderful Photo Video bundle Ultimate 2020 that comes with Videostudio ultimate and Paintshop Pro ultimate.

In Paintshop Pro however I can't find frequently used preset shapes of triangles or octagons or other commonly needed shapes. The software has very limited build in preset shapes (10pcs) and for the rest only offers a polgyon, stellated, rectangular, square, circle or ellipse preset. That's it...

How for instance are you supposed to quickly draw a vector triangle shape? One of my old PSP versions (+10 yrs old) offered a lot more useful preset shapes right out of the box... Anyone know where I can find extra basic preset shapes to add? Or am I simply missing out on something? Thanks for any useful info concerning this.

Hello Kathy,

Thanks for your reply but unfortunately it doesn't help.
I double checked and I have installed everything in sequence like the email (pdf) instructed. (that is the email I got after purchasing the bundle: PaintShop Pro_Online Store.pdf.
One of the mentioned instructions is to download the PSP2020_Corel_CreativeCollection.exe (871MB) file and install it. I did that and it also shows up in my installed software list.

I installed the file again, and choose 'repair' for if in some case some things would be broken. The installer run and did not find any problems.

So my problem remains: where can I get preset shapes like triangles and other types of geometric figures?

Thanks,

krikke

Hi krikke,
you may also create your own vector shapes and save them as presets:

Hi Jean Luc,

I got that, but there must be some ready to download collection of vector geometric shapes out there no? (or any other collection of extra pre-made vector shapes that you can preview, buy and import)
For the moment I can only find extra addons like extra tubes, brushes etc... but no vector shapes. (or I simply can't find them)

If necessary I am willing to pay for such an optional collection but imo this is something that should be offered standard within the program (especially when it was present in previous PSP versions).
I'm a bit disappointed that such a basic thing is not included in an Ultimate (or even std) package that for the rest is packed with loads of other useful and less useful extra stuff.

That being said:
Is it possible for users who run older PSP versions (that came with a lot more vector shapes) that they can export the vector shapes and put them in a zip/rar so we can import them in a 2020 version?

:-)

Go to File - Preferences - File Locations - Preset Shapes and make sure there is a link to C:\ProgramData\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro 2020\Corel_11. If it's not there, then add it and see if that helps.

Hi Kathy, thanks for the tip. The Preset Shapes link is there... I guess I have all the preset shapes. Except there's only +-15 in total or so where in the old version I had a lot more.

Hello,

Just wanted to add that LeviFiction has written a script for converting Photoshop custom shapes to PaintShop Pro shapes: https://levifiction.wordpress.com/2018/ ... om-shapes/

I haven't used the scripy myself, but Levi is a very experienced PSP scripter, so this might prove helpful. There is tons of free Ps custom shapes on the internet (google "photoshop custom shapes").

You are very welcome krikke.

If the script works with later versions of PSP, I think it can be quite useful in your case.

I just installed PSP2020 from my Humble Bundle on my laptop . It also showed just the 15 or so preset shapes that krikke found.
Using the Get More that Jean-Luc suggested in a previous post I downloaded and installed the Creative Content.
This gave me
02PresetShapes.jpg
When I looked at the file location I had these files and folders
01PresetShapes.jpg
Three links found in File >Preferences > File Location >Preset Shapes
were
C:\Users\Paul\Documents\Corel PaintShop Pro\2020\Preset Shapes (Empty)
C:\Users\Paul\Documents\Corel PaintShop Pro\Purchased\Preset Shapes (Empty)
C:\ProgramData\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro 2020\Corel_11
So all my preset shapes are found in the third program link.

The triangle one is
Corel_11_079.pspshape

So if you have done the installation and cannot find the extra shapes you might search for that triangle one and see if you can locate it.

I am also wondeeing if you have done something strange in installation and not accepted all the defaults - ie 32 and 64 bit section, changed location of user files from Documents .

Hi Hartpaul,

I have the three links:

C:\Users\Paul\Documents\Corel PaintShop Pro\2020\Preset Shapes (Empty)
C:\Users\Paul\Documents\Corel PaintShop Pro\Purchased\Preset Shapes (Empty)
C:\ProgramData\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro 2020\Corel_11

When going to c:/programdata/corel/corel paintshop pro 2020/corel_11/ I can see I have three subdirectories which contain the following standard preset shapes:
Image1.jpg
So far, everything looks ok...

You say you downloaded and installed extra content from the Get More option... what extra add on did you install in order to get all the preset shapes from your screenshot?
The 'free' bottom one that is called Creative Content Pack? (purple thumbnail with yellow stars)

If you haven't downloaded the "purple" get more selection, you should as it includes preset shapes.

Yes! Downloading & installing the free creative content pack (the purple one with stars) did it!

Thanks Hartpaul and Kathy for helping me find this... I now got the same preset shapes as in my very old PSP version! Amongst them also my favourite geometric shapes!

Also a big thanks to the other contributors for their tips and advise! Much apprreciated!
