Is VideoStudio Ultimate 2020 really worth upgrading from VS 2018??
I know we can't install extra content such as some of my NewblueFx as shown on print. I wonder if only the VS Ultimate 2020 itself, without the extra Newblue Fx of mine, it would be worth it comparing to mine VS2018 with all the extra installed.

This is really a personal decision based on your financial capacity and level of dissatisfaction with VS2018. You can always check out the VS2020 trial version and see if the experience works for you. You should also read this forum and see the level of VS2020 problems being experienced with SP2 being released.

In simple words Telmo are you willing to take the chance and replace your old level of dissatisfaction with VS2018 with a new level of dissatisfaction with VS2020?

Hi
If it helps I installed the trial version of NewBlue Art Effects which shows in CVS 2020
It does have a cross-hair and a logo through the filters, but then I have not paid for it.
Short arms and deep pockets

I think Robert or Ken may be the best to advise regarding the NewBlue filters

Hi Lata,
I don't think NewBlue Art Effects comes included in CVS 2020. Could you confirm on that??

Hi
I did not say it was included, just that I installed the trial version downloaded from New Blue and it shows in CVS2020
I assumed your image showed NewBlue filters that you have purchased

Are you saying that the Art Effects you showed were provided free with Video Studio, if so which version?

No, the Art Effects I purchased some years ago when the X10 was released. I purchased Art Effects and some other Newblue plugins directly from Newblue official site. I know if I decide to upgrade to CVS2020 Ultimate I won't be able to install those Newblue Fx like I have them on VS 2018.

NB Essentials packages 3 & 6 will not install into VS 2020 and many other of the older packages also cannot be installed, it is a matter of waiting for Corel to include them as part of the program.
Discussions with NB indicate that they are not really interested in resolving installation issues with the old Essentials packages.
Yet, Pinnacle Studio 23 does include many more packages (including 3 & 6) so it should not be too much of an issue for Corel to include extra NB content

Just noticed that NB Essentials 3 is available from Corel at the discount price of US$39.99 (Open Get More Tab) so why wont my owned version of 3 not install, as I have said in an earlier post NB have no real interest in resolving that issue, the problem seems to be in the way that NB Filters are now installed into VS, nearly all the filters have X7 as part of the plug-in name, which is not part of the original names

I'm not particularly interested in resolving the issue either, though like robert own (since 2014) a full set of the NB Essentials packages for VS and in 64 bit format. I just tried installing and it seemed to complete. At the end it even asked for the SN to activate it, which I supplied. But like Robert, I cannot find it in VS 2020 which is the only version of VS on this computer. I also tried with NB Essentials 6, with similar luck to 3...

The installation process also asked if I wanted to install it in Pinnacle, Cyberlink PowerDirector and Magix Movie Edit Pro. And it was successfully installed in Magix and Cyberlink. I had not known it was already present in Pinnacle Studio, so I guess that doesn't count.

I noted the names of the filters in Essentials 3 (from Magix), and looked for them in VS 2020 in case they were included in the overall filters though not specifically against NB Essentials 3. But they were not there. I also checked in the vft_plug folder in Program Files, but there were no references to either Essentials 3 or 6...

NB Essentials 3 now fully installed and working, unfortunately, not so successful with Essentials 6 and Film Effects
Essentials 6 just could not be installed (Essentials 6 is not available in the Do More Tab)
Film Effects did manage to install, but had some major issues launching, most of the time VS2020 would not launch, but when it did, Film Effects showed in the library and was fully working, so uninstalled Film Effects
So how did I get 3 working
1. go to C:\ProgramFiles\NewBlue\VideoEssentials 111 for Windows, open the ULead64 folder, copy the contents into a new folder.
2. Open the new folder and Add X7 at the end of each filter, ie, NewBlueV3AutoContrastX7.vft do this for each filter.
3. Copy the 10 filters from the new folder to c:\ProgramFiles\Corel\CorelVideoStudio2020\vft_plug
4. Launch VS2020 and Essentials 3 should now appear in the Library
5. If NB3 does not appear, reset the library, go to C:\Users\******\AppData\Roaming\ULead Systems\CorelVideoStudioPro(x64), rename the 23.0 Folder to 23.0old
6 Launch VS2020 and allow Library to rebuild, then Essentials 3 should now display.

This may also work with other NB Packages which you own, but can also be purchased from Corel, not guaranteed to work, may well depend on your PC configuration

Thanks Robert. That certainly worked for NB Essentials 3. Curious why Essentials 6 doesn't. I tried that with and without the X7 attached and also by calling 23.0 in Ulead Systems 'OLD'. But each time I would get the VS splash screen, it would sit there for ages, then just disappear with no message... I have yet tried installing Film Effects, but for the moment might just take your word for it and leave things as they are!

EDIT: FWIW I went through my old Download files and found a pile of NB stuff. I decided to try installing NB Explosions. That worked, though it turned out they were vfx instead of vft and all appear in VS2020's transition page under the NB Explosions title.

I also decided to try installing NB Film Effects. However, VS splash screen appeared for a long while then simply disappeared as it did for Essentials 6. So I deleted the relevant files from vft_plug. The filters did, however, successfully open in Pinnacle, PowerDirector and Magix... Go figure!
