Adding Text PSP 2018

Post by Linda Lou »

Hi all,
I have to add a large amount of informational text to a promotional image. Using the text tool in my PSP 2018 has been tedious for this project. Is there any way to use MS Word so I can get the best word formatting and convert it to PSP? I'm open to any suggestions on how to do this.

I think it's not possible to retain text formatting while Pasting from an external program.

How about screen-shooting the text (probably in parts if it's huge) and then paste it in PSP as image layer(s)? You won't be able to manipulate it as text anymore, but maybe it works for you. Especially if you adjust the text size in MS Word in a way that it won't need to be resized much or at all inside PSP.

It is not possible but I thought maybe somebody would know of an app that could convert.

I've tried screenshots in the past, but small text on a background does not clean up well enough to create a transparent background, and it is difficult to move text around to fit the main image layer.

I appreciate your input though. It appears as if I'll just have to bite the bullet and do a section at a time slowly.

I was able to type some text in Word using WordArt, copied it and pasted it in PSP. I pasted via right-click -> paste as transparent selection. Then Ctrl+D to get rid of the marching ants. Not sure if that is what you are looking for.

"Fontwork" in LibreOffice (Writer = Word, Impress = Powerpoint) also produces text that can be pasted in with a transparent background. In LibreOffice, the text is vector-like, editable and scalable but pastes as a raster in PSP.
