I'm working through a lot of VHS Video to Digital conversion and working with a lot of 720x576 4:3 video.
If I render as-is in Videostudio then everything is fine but I want to get rid of that fuzzy bottom border you tend to get on all old video. I can use the zoom tool and bump it up to around 110% to push the rough border out of shot but whenever I do that, I get hideous interlacing lines on the resulting video.
Is there any way I can achieve my goal without running into interlacing issues ..... and why is it happening anyway ?
How do I avoid Interlacing Lines ?

1- Do not zoom 10% as it will turn the poor VHS into fuzzy video.
You better crop a bit and overlay the frame over something.
2 -Render your output as frames based and not field base,

Re: How do I avoid Interlacing Lines ?
Hi Paul
You should not really have interlacing problems, are you referring to jagged edges to your video especially on straight lines.
If they exist on the originals, zooming in will exaggerate them as well as reducing quality and your VHS tapes are of the lowest quality to start with.
What are the properties of your original video files.?
What are your project properties set to ?
Your project properties should be set to the same as your video files properties, Afaik analogue capture to Mpeg2 would use Upper Field First.
You could try Frame Based effectively using progressive that may help with jagged edges.
Are the settings on your capture device correct.
As for the lines at the bottom, like Asik I think the same and apply a frame, many available in the Overlay library and may enhance the video.

Suggest at least providing an image showing a frame from the original video and the same frame from rendered video that show the "interlacing issue".Paul33 wrote: I get hideous interlacing lines on the resulting video.

Using the crop rather than the zoom tool was perfect for what I wanted and all is good now ..... thanks for your help again !
