OK, I have to admit, I am a newbie to entry level editing software, and I know I am probably missing something very simple. But can anyone tell me why my produced video has this horrible and distracting 'colour banding' whenever there is a gradient? (Screenshot attached). It is not there in the source video.
Any assistance welcome.

Welcome to the forum.
To be able to help we will need more information: what is the format of the original video (right click a clip in the VS timeline and copy Properties here please)? Was it filmed on a smartphone or video camera? What is your output format and properties? What editing was done -- especially, were any filters used?
