Like text on a curve, but a path instead of text?

Post by magnoliasouth »

I am curious how I can achieve this.

My best example is creating vectored flowers. I want to design different types of petals (as paths) and save them in my library and when I need to create a flower, I can make a circle and pick one of my petal paths, which will fit to the curve the way I desire. Text to curves is easy, but this one has me stumped.

I am sure PSP must allow it because even Inkscape can do this and it's free! I prefer vectoring in PSP because it is not as limited as Inkscape but I cannot figure this out.

What you want is not a feature built into PSP. If it's circular and repeating you can use the symmetric shape tool to create unique repeating shapes by adding nodes to the line that creates the shape.

Money is not the issue. Inkscape is designed as a COMPLETE vector program that supports the majority of, if not all of, the SVG 1.1 standard. So if it's available in SVG Inkscape probably has it. They also have a lot of features that don't exist in SVG but those were designed by developers who wanted such vector options in it. Like spiro curves and using potrace for raster to vector tracing.

PaintShop Pro is a general use Photo editor. It does digital painting, vectors, photos, a wide variety of features. But as a result it doesn't have all of the same features that you'd get with a full Digital painter, a full photo editor only, a full vector or illustration program. It's far more piecemeal in what it supports or does.

Hello,

Carol Cassel has a few free scripts on her website, which may help. They don't do exactly what you are after, but they do similar stuff: https://creationcassel.com/store/index. ... x&cPath=21

Thanks to you both! Guess I'll just continue in Inkscape, which isn't as user friendly as PSP but I do know how to use it for that purpose. I am so glad about the scripts. Suz Shook's scripts (or some of them) are there too! Wow, blast from the past. ;) I love them!
