Burned disc shows Widescreen, but I selected 4:3 ?

Hello, I have the MovieFactory 4.0 Trial version and so far everything looks great; however, I am having one problem. Even though I encoded the video in a 4:3 format and all the options in the program are selected to 4:3, after I burn the disc the movie is put in a widescreen format (black bars top and bottom). Which of course makes the people in the video look fat. Before I go out and spend $100 dollars on the retail version I'd like to be sure that I'm not doing anything wrong or that this is not an issue in the retail version.

How are you recording the video and getting it into MF4?
How are you viewing the video?

Haven't heard of this problem.
While on the time-lin if you right-click on the thumbnail and select "Properties" is the aspect ratio 4:3.

On the first screen of MF, click the little "cog" button, is the project ratio set to 16:9 or 4:3? Select 4:3 and save the project, you should be fine.

I'm having this same problem. Everything was working fine until I upgraded to Windows XP from Win2K. Could this have something to do with it? I've checked the aspect ratio on the unencoded video as well as on the imported clip. All show a 4:3 ratio. The menu and the first clip on the burned dvd play as 4:3 but then the main movie plays as 16:9.

I'm having the opposite problem. My footage is in 16:9 so when I go to burn I select 16:9 - but my burns are coming out in 4:3 all stretched and full screen. It just does not seem to want to convert and I've wasted numerous discs. What to do?

Yeah, I've e-mailed customer support and have heard NADA! Does anyone actually work at Ulead?????

If you upgraded your system try re-installing MF4 and then the updates.
Make sure to install the updates.
The menus should come out 16:9 if the project properties is set to 16:9.
