Why don't the properties change when I edit?

Post by rkstudio »

Hello. I checked the properties of one of my clips before I started editing and it said 536 mb's, Then when I clipped out a large section of it (almost the whole clip), and clicked save, the properties still show that clip as being 536 mb's. Does anyone know why that would be? I'm trying to make it a smaller file size so it doesn't take all day to save and upload. Thanks.

Editing programs like VS don't actually affect the video. Editing, including cutting, is virtual and the original stays intact (in case, say, you want to use it again in another project)...

When you click save all you do is save the project file, you are not saving any video. You have to use Share to output your project to a video file which then should result in a different file size

Yes, rendering a project will produce a new video. But all the original video in the project is still on your computer uncut and unchanged.

Ahhh. I get it. I was just trying to see how the file size would go down if I did this and that. ..like cutting, splitting audio and deleting the audio track. I'm sure deleting audio must have a big impact on cutting the file size. Anyway, Thank you both very much! I understand why now.
