How to bring new textures and patterns into PSP?
I am trying to import or copy some outside textures and patterns into PSP 2020 Ultimate , but I can never see them once the program starts. I have copied them into Program Data texture file but no luck. Is there a procedure to follow like an import? In the program data, Corel_15 I also find dozens of texture files, but they are not visible when I start PSP. What am I missing?
Thanks
Thanks
Re: How to bring new textures and patterns into PSP?
PSP uses several folders for different kind of textures.
I don't recall which ones go to the Corel_15 folder, but to avoid fiddling with the default folders, you can create your own (say in your Documents folder) and then tell PSP to look there.
File -> Preferences -> File locations opens this dialog: https://prnt.sc/rxw0zo
In there you can select Category on the left, then add new folder(s) for it on the right. You probably want to have the "Enable" and "Use subfolders" options checked too.

PSP already gives you folders to put files in. They are located in Documents/Corel PaintShop Pro ####/. I'm there you have a textures and patterns folder. You can place any image type that PSP recognizes into these folders and they become available inside PSP

Re: How to bring new textures and patterns into PSP?
Thanks for the replies. I have already tried using the file location dialogue, even though I add the locations and have checked off the boxes, PS S does not see them.
Also, I have actually copied the files to the Documents folder under PSP 2020 and the program does not see them either.
I have a ticket open with Corel, but not hopeful about that.

This is very odd!
How are you trying to "see them". For example, you can only "see" patterns after you have selected the Patterns tab in the Materials dialog. Is that what you mean?

Re: How to bring new textures and patterns into PSP?
The patterns that come with PSP 2020 are located in
C:\ProgramData\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro 2020\Corel_08
When you look at them they are jpg images of different sizes from about 300 pixels square up to 3000 pixels square.
Any patterns you obtain should be placed in
C:\Users\*UserName*\Documents\Corel PaintShop Pro\2020\Patterns
Note the name and when you look at your patterns in PSP you should find them there in alphabetical order.

I hear you! I have not had a good experience with support via Corel.czbill wrote:I have a ticket open with Corel, but not hopeful about that.

@czbill Well you certainly sound like you know what you're doing. I hate to ask this, but when you first tried to view them, did you happen to get a duplicate notification? You see, I too am having this problem but with tubes, which I rarely use but in this case I need very much right now.. I went through the duplicate list I had when I first upgraded, but they're not duplicates.
What file type are your textures and patterns?

Re: How to bring new textures and patterns into PSP?
You have stated:
C:\ProgramData\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro 2020\Corel_08
and are color jpgs. They are visible in windows explorer.
The Textures are found in
C:\ProgramData\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro 2020\Corel_15
and are black and white bmp files . They should be visible in windows explorer .
Check that you can see the files there in windows explorer.
Now when you say you can't see them in PSP how are you trying to "see" them . That question has already been asked and unanswered.
Try this.
1. Open PSP and make a new document say 800 x 800 pixels with white background.
2.Double click your Foreground and Stroke Properties box in the Material Palette and that will give you the Material Properties box. 3.Click on Pattern and you should see six patterns and a slider to allow you to see more. You click on a pattern to select it and then OK. Your Foreground and Stroke Properties box should now show the chosen pattern.
4. On the left choose your Paintbrush tool and with a size about 80 left click and drag across your document to draw with your pattern.
Hope that helps.

Re: How to bring new textures and patterns into PSP?
Thanks for the replies.
I am trying to see the patterns and textures when I go to Effects and apply a texture or a pattern. The patterns and textures that PSP comes with as well as the free ones I downloaded from Corel are there for use. Any other textures or patterns that I have copied to the proper folders in PSP, and also have tried to use file location to point to, are not there to see in Effects.
Hartpaul, I tried what you wrote and it worked just as it should. None of the patterns or textures I tried to import were available though.
I just yesterday realized that I can’t add new plugins. Tried to bring a couple of Topaz programs but no luck. I previously had added Topaz Labs and that is available, but the others not so.
I have an appointment to let someone from Corel take over the computer and see what is what. I’m thinking a reinstall is what is needed.

What effects tab? Do you have the category set to "All" in whatever effect you're trying to use?

Re: How to bring new textures and patterns into PSP?
Looks like a delete and reinstall has done it. Now I can access my patterns, textures and can add plugins. Thanks for all the help.
