Get more Templates not working for X10
I just want to confirm if this problem is with my system or more global in nature. I'm using VS x10, but for some reason I am now unable to download any templates via the Get More Content button. i just get a popup box with the following message; %d%% of download completed. Does anyone else have this problem?

Re: Get more Templates not working for X10
Hi Lata,
Thanks for confirming. There wasn't anything in particular. I had some time on my hands this long weekend and thought it would be a good time to download some templates and check them out. I can wait for Corel to reboot their system.
Cheers.

Re: Get more Templates not working for X10
I was intending to compare the different VS version templates
The server issue stopped that, then when i get access all show as being installed, unfortunately i had cleared the folder and was using 2020 versions
Now I cannot download again as they show as installed, i think that wording needs changing to Downloaded.
Anyway i recall there being a registry tweak to reset the Installed flag, other than uninstalling all my versions of VS.

Re: Get more Templates not working for X10
Interesting, I'm still having the problem. I initially thought it could be a regional issue but RobertOz lives in Australia too. As a test, I renamed the VSPTemplate to VSPTemplate old. Upon rebooting VS, the system recreates the directory VSPTemplate but nothing subsequently downloads into it. I assume this is where they reside?

Re: Get more Templates not working for X10
Hi Candive
I’m back with the same problem, originally I could not access the Corel Guide
That works now but I only have one template available to download 13_HD-Project and that gives the %d%% of download completed
I did download and install the Free Samples Yesterday so it was working then, strange.
I think it will be a server issue so would have to contact Corel Support
As I said if you need any template I do have all downloaded and can share them with you
There has been no change from the X10 and 2020 templates other than the way we download, with 2020 we download one file that saves the templates to our desktop
Then we have to install one at a time so no faster than using X10.
and yes once installed the template folders are saved to the VSPTemplate folder
The Graphics are installed to the VSPContent folder, only exists after installing the first file.

Re: Get more Templates not working for X10
Hi Candive
As a workround
The download files should be saved here
C:\ProgramData\Corel\Downloads
When we try to download it fails but saves a .XML file to a folder, hard to id as the folder names are all numbers, but we can see the date created
Open the .XML using NotePad and look for the download link typically
http://www.corel.com/akdlm/6763/downloa ... roject.exe
and that will download the file
Double click to install the template, that template was saved to the VSPTemplate folder and showed in IP Custom category

Re: Get more Templates not working for X10
Hi Trevor,
Thanks for the update and confirmation where the actual files end up. I never actually downloaded the additional templates before and decided to give it a go since I'm stuck at home, like all of us, patiently waiting for the virus crisis to subside. Its given me some extra time to play around with my video editing software. Also, thank you for your offer to provide me a template I desire. That is very kind of you. Unfortunately, Corel doesn't really provide much of a description for each template so to be honest I really don't know what I would like. At least you have confirmed its not my system or region so I'm more than happy to wait for Corel to get back on-line.
Cheers and stay safe

Re: Get more Templates not working for X10
So I'll give you guys an update.
First, thank you Trevor for your work around regarding the .XML file in the C:\ProgramData\Corel\Downloads. Using the http://path in the .XML file and just changing the project numbers I was able to down load multiple projects using the same path. They would download in the form of .exe files and I would just run them to install the templates. Anyway, I contacted Corel support and reported the problem with X10. The initial response was that X10 was an old version and I should upgrade to 2020. I sent them the link to this thread indicating others were having issues as well at the time. The second response was to conduct a clean install of VS which I did by following their procedures but the issue remained. At this stage I suspected that Corel had indeed changed the download process, and that it was permanently broken for X10. But with Trevor's work around, I was still able the get the templates without upgrading to 2020.
I then got a third email from Corel Support asking me if I would allow them to remote access my PC so they can fix the issue. I have hesitated, since I'm not keen on third parties accessing my machine but there may be some underlying problem with my configuration even after a clean install whihc may need to be fixed. So my question to the forum is as follows; if any of you still have X10, using Windows 10 (Version 1909; OS build 18363.778) can you download the project templates in the normal fashion other than using Trevor's workaround? Maybe its my version of Windows 10 that is the issue.

Hi Candive
Just tried CVSX10 and now i am able to download and install the templates
only tried the first two HTML 9 and 10 both installed ok
either Corel have tweaked their server or my pc did have an issue and is now behaving its self.
That i will never know.

Re: Get more Templates not working for X10
Although its been a couple of months since I raised this issue (how time flies) I thought it would be appropriate to make a final post since the issue was eventually resolved.
Due to Covid, like many, I started working from home. My laptop which had VS x10 installed was showing its age so I upgraded to a new desktop and installed VS x10 on it as well. This is when I decided to download the templates when I started having problems. I posted my issue on this forum and Trevor (lata) and Robert (RobertOz) kindly confirmed there was a problem but subsequently reported that the issue was resolved at their end. I still had the issue both on my new desktop and my laptop which I wasn't going to uninstall until the issue was resolved.
When I initially contacted Corel Support, they said that the problem was my system and that I should reinstall which I dutiful did but still this did not fix the problem. I was then told that the problem was x10 itself and that the program was too old and that I should upgrade to 2020. I responded that this could not be the case and I sent the link from this post explaining that other users were able to download the templates on multiple versions. Corel Support then wanted to remote access my PC to fix the problem. I didn't think it was necessary because I didn't think it was my system. Plus I was experiencing the same issue on my desktop and laptop - two completely different sets of hardware. In addition to that I happen to be the neighbourhood computer geek who helps all the retired folks on the street with their computer issues so if Corel would just tell me what to do I was confident I could follow their instructions. Corel Support then insisted that x10 was too old and that I should upgrade to 2020. They then informed me the case was closed.
This was strange. How could others download the templates using x10 and I couldn't? What was the difference? And could it have something to do with 2020 since both Trevor and Robert had 2020 installed? So what I did was install a trial version of 2020 on my new desktop computer. It indeed downloaded the templates and surprisingly the downloads started working in x10! I then uninstalled the trial version but the downloads continued to work in x10. As you know, whenever you uninstall a program, its never a clean uninstall, something is always left behind either as a file or a setting in the registry. What that is, I don't know.
I then thought, is this just a coincidence, maybe its now working? So I tried downloading the templates on my laptop but still the templates would not download. So I contacted Corel Support and explained my finding; that installing the 2020 trial version and subsequently uninstalling it, fixed my problem. I never received a thank you, but a few days later, I tested my laptop again and the templates downloaded!
There ya go!
I just want to send a belated thank you to both Trevor and Robert for their help and input.
Cheers
