I just purchased a copy of "DVD MovieFactory Pro 7" after a long quest through Corel tech support. The download (there were four, but I was told which was the main installer and which were "optional") will not install under Windows 10 Pro, no matter what "compatibility mode" I try. Is there a solution or viable alternative?
Why I wanted it in the first place: I have no interest in making videos, but I really liked the Burn. Now! component that came bundled with MovieFactory on a Lenovo Windows 7 Pro laptop I purchased new in 2016. I'm now moving to a very fast Win10 laptop and need a good CD/DVD-burning program for the (external) reader/burner. (They are hard to find these days, and what I've found either lack essential options or are extremely bloated with useless "features." Burn. Now! was perfect!) Does anybody know how to get this thing working or know of a decent substitute?
I hope somebody is still visiting this forum! -- jclarkw

Re: Won't Install in Windows 10 (Want Burn. Now)
Welcome to the forum. As you probably realize, we haven't had many visitors to this forum in quite a long time...
I have to confess that I haven't tried installing my old copy of Movie Factory 7 on any of my Win 10 computers, so I can't help you there. However, if you are interested more specifically in Burn. Now, you could try downloading and installing it as a separate program. You can find it here:
https://ulead-burn-now.en.softonic.com/ However, I have no real idea if it will install in Windows 10 either. You could give it a try, though.
As for other software, I assume you are interested in a free program. We often recommend ImgBurn here if people want a different burning module to the one that comes in Video Studio or Movie Factory. You can download that from https://www.imgburn.com/ It is supposed to be compatible with Win 10.

Ken -- Thanks very much for the complete answer! Honestly this is way more than I get from a "typical" forum. I'll try Burn. Now by itself and report back.
I don't really care whether the software is free or not as long as 1) it doesn't contain adware and 2) it allows me to do multi-session recordings (not clear ImgBurn, which is also very old, does that), close or leave open, specify file system (UDF/ISO, Joliet), and verify after burn. Again, if I find anything that satisfies, I'll report.

Re: Won't Install in Windows 10 (Want Burn. Now)
Ken -- An Update: I tried installing Ulead Burn. Now 1.5 (trial version) from your link, but although it appears to install (inside a sandbox), it says it won't run without MS DirectX 9, which I assume is obsolete and incompatible with Windows 10. (I didn't try to download and install that.) Other anomalies:Ken Berry wrote:...if you are interested more specifically in Burn. Now, you could try downloading and installing it as a separate program. You can find it here:

1) The manual I have is for Burn. Now 4.5 (Jan. 2007), apparently a much newer version than 1.5.
2) The version I was running under Windows 7 calls itself "Corel Burn. Now," but the Help/About says, "Corel MMC CD/DVD writing plug-in vs. 3.7.21.386" from 2008. Since this was bundled with the old machine, of course I can't try to install it on the new machine.
If anyone else here has experience with replacements for Corel MovieFactory Pro 7 (that run in Win10), or at least with satisfactory CD/DVD burning software, I'd be grateful if you would put me in touch. Best Regards -- jclarkw
