Black margin around footage

Post by zehavi »

Hello,
Recently I got a mp4 file 16:9, 1920x1080.
Unfortunately it has black margin all around the footage.
Attached is a snapshot from the video.
Any help will be appreciate.
Thanks,
Abraham

The best esthetic thing is to crop the black and then overlay that video with maybe a soft shadow over a more pleasing background that you have in VS.

You could use the "Video Pan and Zoom" effect to zoom into the image and capture only the active video. Your resulting video will then fill the screen. It will be a little softer than if it was originally full frame, but at least you won't have a black border. You could add a little sharpening (which is another filter in the FX section) to help recapture a bit of crispness. It's not ideal, but it is something.

Does the project properties match the FHD properties of the source video?

Is your source video on the main video track or an overlay track? Try right-clicking on the source video and select the "fit to screen" option.
