Hi Steve
Using the file I provided I do not have a problem (3 panels.vsmongage)
Can you test again but use images from the media library
Your video on the overlay track 1, does that start with a few black frames?

Try using Brian.mp4 to replace video on overlay 1, does that show ok

The last image you provided does look a little strange, size wise? Does not fill the preview screen?

Now that you have the Ultimate version, did you try creating your own Split Screen template

Hi Steve
I was unsure if that file is a VSP or a vsmontage
I think it’s a VSP, even so it is using your video files which I do not have so I cannot see exactly what you see.
If you use the programs library samples for your test I will be able to relink to those and test like for like
This is my attempt to use the 3 panels
I used the solid colours from the library so you will not need to re-link, hopefully
You can drag any of your clips to replace these, I would try images first , videos should also work but you will have to manage the lengths?

Hi Trevor,

Just used media library and it all works OK, so it must be my video files.

Don't know why they are acting differently.

Oh well.

It's something to do with the cropping then...

I've just played with cropping the samples and the same thing happens, they move to where the original video was, even ignoring the cropping.

If you want to change the template you may be best using the Split Screen editor
Double click 3 panels from the library to open the editor
If you add your video there doing OK will create a new template

Or you could create a new one, from the editor again we can add our clips
then when we OK it returns to the timelines with the new template in the library
drag to the timelines to view.
and if you want to tweak, double clicking the library clip will open the Split screen again

If I use the 4 vertical section template, everything works OK, shame there isn't a three section vertical one.

Hi,

What do you mean by "Double click 3 panels from the library" ? I cannot see a three panel one.

Hi Steve
Just had a look at the cropping / animation options
The template is using Customise Motion
Now this something you should get used to it is a very useful tool
The yellow star new to 2020 is a quick access to any filters applied to the clip
Left click shows Customise motion, can also right click any clip to apply Motion - Customise Motion

Once open you can play the effect, not a lot going on there other setting the size to 100%
I see only two key points, if you see more then they were added when you resized the layout

I am having problems opening your SC01.vsp.txt file
Nothing you have done.
I believe It is a bug in the program that is deleting the clip from the timelines when trying to re-link
If you can replace the clips with the colour clips I would be able to open as it would not re-link.

Then I can check clip 1 to see why it is blank?

In the meantime I am gonna wash the car.

Hi Trevor,

Thank you for all of your help.

I have now followed your steps for creating my own three panel template using the split screen icon.

And it is now working fine, so thank you yet again.

Don't know why it's behaving different from the one you posted, maybe it's because it loaded my videos on the split screen screen.

Anyway, it seems all good now.

Hi Steve
Did you have problems registering for the forums
I notice another account Steve in Kent, no problem it will be sorted.
We were / are having some problems with the forums e-mails

If you had similar problems that would explain the duplicate account

Yes I did,

I could not remember password or username and it needed both email and username to reset password.

So I had to register a new username and email.
