How to remove start transition

Post by Steve of Kent »

Complete newbie here, so please be patient.

I am trying to make up one video from three separate videos.

I am using the 4 vertical sections template hoping to be able to crop and move to hide the 4th one, but that's a later problem, since I cannot find a three section one).

I have managed to put the first two in using sections one and two, but when playing the project it starts off with the 2nd section on the far left with the screen divided in three equal sections.

It then continues with the 2nd section on the far left playing, (both videos are audible), after 2 seconds a white rectangle "grows" in the middle, then after 3 seconds the whole thing shifts to the right so sections one and two are visible, and the white rectangle disappears after 6 seconds.

The white rectangle is pretty small in the centre of the screen.

I have made sure "automatic transitions" is unchecked.

Any help in being able to just get the thing playing showing all 4 sections from the start and no rectangle would be really appreciated, (and if you have time, how to get 3 vertical equal sections).

Hi Steve
and welcome to the forums

A little confused as to what you are doing, you have the benefit of looking at your work
Can you provide a screen shot of two of your project

Playing the project back and we have two options
Project Playback will play the entire timelines starting from the cursor position, notice the word Project next to the play button
Clip playback will play only the selected clip.

If in Project hitting the Home button will take you to the beginning of the timelines
In Clip will go to the start of the selected clip.

If your project is only using the libraries clips you could upload the vSP to this forum, however you need to rename the VSP to use TXT as its extention, otherwise Zip the VSP file

Post Updated
Steve
I think I have got your drift now
Are you using the Split Screen templates, IP-04

Hi Steve
This may get a little confusing
You are using the Instant Projects IP-04 template, although is in the Split Screen section it is not a true Split Screen template.
If you start a new project, drag the IP-04 to the top timeline, hold Shift then drop, it will insert as a flattened clip.
Switch the library to the media view and create a new folder, hit the + at the top, name it my split screens
Now drag the clip from the timeline to the library
This is a Split Screen template, looks the same but not an actual Instant Project, I said it would confuse.
Double click this clip and the Split Screen editor will open allowing you to modify the template, I found that hard to do, not sure how Corel created this template.

We can create our own templates

Close the Split Screen Templates Editor
From the timeline Tool Bar- far right- second from end is the Split Screen Editor- open that
Splitting tools – select the straight line tool – draw a vertical line at approx. 1/3
If its not straight – change the rotation back to 90 ( need to select the arrow top right)

Horizontal about 20
Draw another vertical line
Horizontal -20
Rotate 90

You now have your 3 vertical panels
Hit OK and you return to the timelines, a SS project file is placed in the library
Drag to timeline

Replace clips from Library Drag and Drop whilst holding the Ctrl key

now you have 3 vertical panels, not animated just static, but can add video.

this is one i made earlier
SplitScreen01.vsmontage.txt
rename to remove .txt then import to library

Just to clarify my description when using 2020.

The library in 2020 has had a makeover with some folders being renamed
The vertical menu 3rd down shows as Templates originally named Instant Projects, however opening that does show the individual templates named IP-01, IP = Instant Project

The icon with the small flower is now named Overlays, previously Graphics

Apologies if we revert to the older names in our description
Cant teach old dogs as it were………….

After completing the Split Screen Editor
And when leaving the Split Screen Template Editor we have two choices
1 / Export as Template – seems to obvious option but this creates an Instant Project / Template
2 / I find the best option is simply OK, that will save a Split Screen template in the Media library

Both look the same but the latter will open the Split Screen Editor again allowing you to continue editing the Template.

Good morning Steve
You are also missing other tools, Mask Creator?

What version of 2020 are you using Help About
Are you using the Trial?

the attached is what i see.
To the left you can Customise Tool Bar, but all should be selected, worth a look

The template i provided, import to media library, double click, the Split Screen Editor should open, if its installed?

I have got no idea why it is doing this.

I have used the one that you posted as a project, dragged and dropped two of the videos to the timeline, (don't worry about the audio, it's got to be synced), and section 1 disappears behind section 2.

Hi Steve

I think you may have the Pro version and not the Ultimate
It appears that the Pro does not have the Split Screen Editor
I found this comparison on the Corel site

Hi Steve
I have converted the file to an instant Project
Rename and import to templates library

The other was a split screen template and if you do not have that then it may not display correctly
3 panels.zip
(3.37 KiB) Downloaded 60 times
Unzip and add all folder to :-
C:\Users\User Name\Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro\VSPTemplate

Launch VS and view the templates library

Catch you later have a shopping trip organised

Hi Steve
Using the template IP-04, I drag to the timeline to show 4 overlay tracks using a placeholder, it’s a black png image at 10 seconds duration.
I replace each with a different image , I used the library image samples
Drag and drop whilst holding the CTRL key will replace clips
When I play the project I see three vertical panels which slide right allowing room for a forth panel, well panel 1 to appear
During this a white rectangle zooms into the frame and back out again
The project finishes with 4 vertical panels showing

Hi Trevor,

Just to make sure that I am trying to do this correctly.

Using your first template, (SplitScreen01), I drag and drop the video showing in the library panel to the placeholder shown as overlay 1 using cntrl
Then drag an drop the second video to overlay 2, and the third to overlay 3.

Should I then see each video play in the respective panels in the project/clip window?

This is what I get.
