2019 - Program Freezes when import media file

I am trying to insert an .mp4 file into VS to edit. It's approximately 9 mins long and 57.1mb. The file is located on local desktop. when i select the file to insert...VS freezes. I have to start Task Manager and force shut down. Any insights?

Welcome to the forum.

Can we assume there was nothing special about the mp4 file? Did it come from a smartphone? If so, did it have a variable frame rate. It would good if you could send us the properties of the video. Using the free MediaInfo app would give us the best set of properties...

This video was captured via the Zoom application. I tried to import another mp4 file that was recorded during a zoom meeting...same results.
Have no problems opening the video in media player.
