VIDEO STUDIO 9 CRASHES

Post by cyberlovedonkey »

Hello

I`ve got Video Studio 8 and 9 on my PC at the moment , Video Studio 9
initially worked but now when I come finishing my project and going to share video the program crashes , installed updates . Unistalled it , reinstalled it , reinstalled it on my second Hard Drive , in different folders
with different names and keep getting the same error

I havent uninstalled video Studio 8 yet , do you think that might be the problem or is it maybe a codec problem

I`m heartily miffed now

any ideas would be appreciated

cheers

Help us help you by giving us information about your system, and the video properties of the clips you're using. To start, try closing other running applications and unplugging external devices.

You'll find my post with similar problems mostly unanswered under "VS9 Constant Crashing during Edit" http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... highlight=

I too had VS8 and VS9 loaded simultaniously. VS8 working without a hitch, VS9 crashing on nearly every move. When Tech Support instructed me to do complete deinstalls of all ULead products, I was wary (since I have about all of them, I convinced them maybe I could just uninstall VS). Sure nuf, loaded VS9 again and then I was without any VS editing.

So, I did it all again - deinstall (use the complete deinstall instructions you'll find posted, which includes deleting directories and reg files the auto-deinstall does not). You'll want to make sure your PC has all the latest patches. Do a disk clean-up, defrag everything, then reinstall. Try first to run without the 5-in-1 Patch. If you crash, load it (I had to). That helped a bit. I was running, but still crashing.

Looking at the posts, you'll find several suggestions. I turned-off write-caching on my hard drives. That seemed to help a bit too... but still crashing frequency made it an unusable state.

I talked to Tech Support again, they're really more "how-to" folks and were no real help. This board has more ideas.

There are posted recommendations not to load a codec pack, so I didn't do it. I did, however, find out there was a new ATI Catalyst install available that I loaded it. MUCH better. So, there are some compatibility issues with VS9 and legacy configurations.

I also read on the boards about file integrity and issues with previous capture/render versions. I'm suspecting that there may be some corrupted AVI's involved because I'm crashing when working on some more than others. All were captured in VS8. I'm not sure what's going on with that yet.

Oh, and you may have trouble burning DVD's. I had to install the Burn Pack/Patch that was release during VS8 (at the recommendation of Tech Support). That fixed that problem.
