I'm working on a project with a number of action video clips of snowmobiles. I applied the Mercalli image stabilization effect to a number of the clips. Initially I took the defaults with the Mercalli effect (universal camera), went into "customize" for the effect for each clip and ran the "analyze" process for each as normal. When I view the project in the editor, the clips look fine and the stabilization appears to work, but when I compile the project and then view the resulting MP4 file, when I come to the segments where the Mercalli effect was applied, I see that big stupid Mercalli banner across the screen that says I need to run the analyze process, which I did run in the editor, and I can't run after it's been compiled. I tried switching the effect customization from the default "Universal Camera" to the glide camera and the sport camera options and re-running the analysis and recompiling, but I get the same bad result.
Has anyone else seen this, and does anyone know of a fix or work around? I don't see any references when I search this forum. I've used the Mercalli effect before, but I don't know if I've used it since I upgraded to VS 2019.
Thanks!

Mercalli calculates the levelling effects it applies with respect to the length of the clip. So, the one thing you cannot do to an clip that has mercalli applied is change it's length after the analysis process has run. Change of length may trimming, or even applying transitions before or after the clip. If this happens, you get that 'video needs to be analysed' message, and that appears in a rendered version too. The only way to remove it is to:
- open the vsp, select the relevant clip, and remove the filter; OR
- open the vsp, select the relevant clip, and re-run the mercalli analysis process until you are happy with the result when playing in the edit page project mode
THEN you render it with no further edits.
If you have done that, with no effect, then a short package of the vsp and clip for testing here would be helpful.
compile is a programmers term. In the video world, render is the term used to combine all the edits into a final result.

The frame rate setting of the project must match the frame rate of the output video.
Change the frame rate setting of the project and have Mercalli analyze it again.

Re: Mercalli FX fails to compile in VS 2019
Thank you sooo much nyackier!! The information you shared was exactly what I needed to resolve the problem! I did just as you said, opened the VSP file in the editor, set the frame rate for the project properties to match the selected output frame rate for the rendering process, accessed each clip in the editor and re-ran the analysis process for the Mercalli affect, and then re-ran the render. Problem solved, the Mercalli image stabilization worked and there are no "Analyze" banners when viewing the rendered file.
Thanks again!
