Video orientation

Post by rkstudio »

I'm shooting videos with my samsung s10 phone but I can't get it to show up in landscape mode even though I'm shooting in landscape mode. I'm trying to pinpoint if the phone is at fault or is it video studio. It keeps uploading in VS2020 Pro in portrait mode. I think I've tried everything a
nd can't solve this problem.

I'm wondering if you have looked at the 16:9/4:3/phone format button below the preview screen. Playing around with that might resolve your problem. See attached image....

Thank you for your response, Ken. I shot a test video yesterday and your suggestion worked. However, today I shot a "for real" video and it failed to show it as landscape again. This is really mind boggling.

Ok, Afrer playing around with the phone, I can see, when I start the camera, the video ratio says 9:16, and there is no obvious 16:9 option, so what I have to do is turn the phone 180, then back again to switch it to 16:9. I don't know if that's by design or not but it took quite a while to solve that one. So the problem isn't with VS, but a weird quirk with my phone.
