refusal to accept HEX color code

Post by SGarriott »

I just noticed that a graphics file I was working on the other day would not accept a manually typed HEX code of #000060. As soon as I entered the code, it changed to #000160. Nothing I could do would change it. I then tried changing other numbers and found all kinds of strange errors. In one case every number I typed in was entered as the number one greater. In another case I tried typing 000000 and got ended up getting 001001. It seems that the HEX code entry field is very screwed up.

If you're referring to the Material Properties dialog, did you have HSL selected as the slider type from the dropdown? I notice this when HSL is selected, but it doesn't show up when RGB is selected. Likewise changing the sliders to any other method also results in changes. I imagine this is faulting coding, but mostly in the sense that they are converting between these different color spaces and small errors occur as a result. Decimals rounded either up or down, color spaces that don't directly support the color you're trying to enter (CMYK for example is based on the CMYK profile selected in color management and may not result in a direct equivalent to the RGB color space selected in color management).
