X10 share panel re-sized after render crash - fix it how?

Post by Davidk »

I recently had a moderately large VSP (play time 36minutes in edit mode, no issues) crash while rendering to mpg using 'same as project settings' (720x576) in the share panel. Entirely repeatable crashing at 9%. I got the same result by de-selecting "same as project settings" and choosing the MPEG-2 button. And a side effect of that crash was the re-sizing of the share panel layout per this screenshot, change highlighted in red

I found that I could work with this - the controls (upper RH screen) now had a scroll bar, and all the items were accessible and usable. BUT it certainly is not normal. And afterwards, I worked around the crash scenario with the same vsp rendering Ok using an mp4 @ 720x480 setting. Issues with render into mpg have become distressingly common in the later versions of VS, but this is the first time I've encountered it in X10.

So this share re-size has to be a VS thing, and maybe it's a standard option, since the re-sized layout has controls now with a scroll bar. So, how do I get the original share panel layout back????

I had a similar occurrence a while back - what cured it for me was to go back to the 'Edit' screen - the choose "preferences >> UI layout >> Default " - the default option is not available on the 'Share' screen but for me at least it was on the edit screen and restored my share screen

but all the sub-windows in the Share screen are customisable any rate by using your cursor over the borders - just as they are in the 'Edit' window -- I understand some users spread their interface over two or more computers and the ability to resize the sub-windows is then very useful and all the controls re-position themselves to still be usable

Yes its a strange layout that most versions of Video Studio has shown at one time or another

Probably be ok after a restart, but no definite fix to stop it happening again.

The UI layout was already set to default, but I clicked it again, OK, closed VS, then started it again.
This effect definitely survives a re-start without reverting to "normal".
And wandering the mouse around the edges of the re-sized area, there's nothing (arrows?) that indicates the edge can be dragged 'smaller' effectively allowing a manual re-size back to normal.
Another undocumented feature that Adi has been on about for years?
