Does new version overwrite old
I purchased the VS2020 upgrade (no problems so far) but have a question: does a new version/upgrade overwrite shared program files such as included transitions, FX, audio files, etc. so that I have the newest versions of those files as possible?

No the new version is installed along side your previous version and does not affect the previous one at all - you can have two (or more) versions installed on your computer and use them all -- one at a time - so it is a good idea not to touch the old one in case there is something you need to check back on
All the latest components will be installed to your newest version - the previous version is not touched at all
Many of us have multiple versions installed - I seem to 4 on this computer

Unfortunately it's not a clear cut as BJC puts it, VS202 do effect other installations, so you better recheck your older VS's for full operation after you add VS2020. I do not have VS2020, but I guess shortly users will popup with instructions how to revive any problems after the new VS installation.BJC wrote:No the new version is installed along side your previous version and does not affect the previous one at all - you can have two (or more) versions installed on your computer and use them all -- one at a time - so it is a good idea not to touch the old one in case there is something you need to check back on
