Re: Problem when opening .tiff files with PSP 2020
Corel have told me they think it might be a side effect which may have been caused by the new camera library support in update 2 that added many new camera models. They've asked an engineer to look at it and fix it. But since it is a relatively rare problem, I suspect any solution may not be quick.

Re: Problem when opening .tiff files with PSP 2020
Dear all,
Another interesting detail :
I've just noticed that my .tiff pictures scanned from my flatbed scanner Epson V600 are loaded without problem with PSP 2020 !!!
Below an exemple : (From flatbed Epson V600)
https://we.tl/t-morrkpyZ5f
As you can read in the "details" the picture was saved without compression !
The pictures showing problems have been scanned from a negative with an Nikon Coolscan V scanner.
Below another exemple : (From Nikon Coolscan V negative/slide scanner)
https://we.tl/t-2DVcCZszVQ
So the problem is maybe not related to the compression mode, but to the source of the scan !
Kind regards
Serge.

Re: Problem when opening .tiff files with PSP 2020
I think we may have to wait for the experts here to comment. But clearly something is going wrong with PSP 2020 when it comes to the Nikon scans. Like you, I had no trouble opening the uncompressed image of the Spitfires from your Epson, but with the other image from the Nikon had the same problem we had with your original photo -- RAW lab opening and this time not even showing the very sketchy outline of the plane. But I'm afraid I don't know enough about scanners to be able to comment beyond that. Personally, I have two Canon scanners, and a big Brother color laser multifunction printer which has an excellent scanner function. But I have never had any problem with any of them, though I have never had to scan negatives either...

Re: Problem when opening .tiff files with PSP 2020
After spending 5 wasted days with customer support I'll try to be civil. I hope someone at Corel is paying attention.
PaintShop Pro 2020 not being able to correctly view, edit, or save Nikon Coolscan 9000 Tiffs is absolutely frustrating.
I won't go through the problems already mentioned (washed out or white thumbnails, not opening in Edit window but in Raw Lab...still washed out or white, then saving the Tiffs as RAW).
There are a couple of things not mentioned that I would highlight.
1. AfterShot does a great job of showing these Coolscan Tiffs. It displays and edits them with no problem. It will allow you to save the Coolscan as a Tiff.
Now go to Paintshop Pro 2020 to the Manage Window and there they are! Beautifully saved as a LZW compressed RAW file? Go to Edit and it opens again in RAW LAB.
Go into AfterShot again with the original CoolScan Tiff and save as a jpg file. All the problems solved. 2020 loves that file.
This is Great, you could batch all your Nikon Coolscan Tiffs to jpg files and the problem is solved....UNLESS you wanted your photos to remain uncompressed Tiff files.
2. This is not a new problem with Corel PaintShop Pro. This most recent Coolscan error started with PSP 2019. The PSP 2019 version had/has the same problem. I purchased the 2019 upgrade and have since uninstalled it because of this matter. Corel has known about this problem for almost two years with no response. Thinking 2020 would solve the problem, and purchasing the upgrade, I've wasted my money again. There appears to be no reason to continue upgrading, unless a Nikon Coolscan 9000 (& earlier) patch is put forward by Corel.
3. For the record, Paintshop Pro X8 and X9 work perfectly. Coolscan and all other Tiff files work beautifully. I'll be using X9 (now unsupported) until they fix the problem.
I have appreciated the Jasc, now Corel, PaintShop products since Jasc 7. I am surprised at their lack of response. We could sure use some help with this programing snafu.
Hoping someone in engineering is feeling up to the challenge,
boat

Re: Problem when opening .tiff files with PSP 2020
After a couple of times contacting customer service, there’s good news to report. The latest update from the Corel Service folks (7/1/20), they have found and corrected the Coolscan problem! Paint Shop will now recognize uncompressed Coolscan Tiffs again.
No patches will be available for existing versions but The fix will be applied to PaintShop 2021.

I just read an update of the escalation ticket that the team seems to have solved the problem, however, the fix is not going to be applied in PSP2020, but the next version.
Please wait until the next version has been released, then download the trial and run a test.
Please write back to me if it works.
We have no information when the new version will be released in a couple of months.
THANKS COREL!

That's Corel for you. They'll fix the errors that show up in there present version of PSP but you'll have to pay for the next version to take advantage of the fix. Brilliant marketing strategy, eh?

Re: Problem when opening .tiff files with PSP 2020
The problem is not solved in PSP 2021 Ultimate, contrary to statements that it would be solved in PSP 2021.
VERY frustrating. All my scans (thousands) from transparencies prior to 2010 are Nikon Coolscan, with which, using PSP 9 and earlier I had no problem.

Hi PSP users,
We heard your voice and understood this issue does make some troubles for some of you. The good news is we have resolved the issue and offered a temporary solution to our customer service team. Once the user has contacted our customer service team and you should already get the solution.
However, in order to make sure this solution could help more users to dismiss this TIFF issue in their latest PSP2021 version, we decide to share the hotfix through the forum directly. You can find the hotfix via the attached zip file.
Attention: before you install this hotfix, please make sure your PSP2021 version has upgraded to 23.1.0.27. You can go through the menu list "Help > About" to confirm the version number.
If you have any questions about the hotfix installation or still encounter the same TIFF issue after the hotfix applied, please raise it.
Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

Re: Problem when opening .tiff files with PSP 2020
The hotfix does not work with PSP 2021 23.1.0.27 x64.
Uncompressed TIFF files are opened incorrectly.
