How to transfer my Ultimate X9 to a new machine.

Post by rkstudio »

Hello, I finally bought a new machine and I'd like to know how I can install my Ultimate X9 to my new machine from my old machine. I don't have a disc drive in the new one. Any advise would be appreciated.

I assume that you have the disc version of the installation files. If so, do you still have your old computer with its disc drive? If so, then simply copy the contents of the DVD to a USB stick drive or external hard drive, connect it to your new drive and install from that.

Really? And that would install video studio to the new machine? I thought I had to have the serial number and all that. Also. I had VS Version Ultimate x6 , then upgraded online with the offer they sent. When I click "about" it show only most of the first part of the serial number but not all of it. So I do have the original disc, but the upgrade, I purchased online.

If you registered the upgrade version then you can go to corel.com, sign in and your Registered Products will show the serial numbers for them.

For this and related reasons, I keep all my license keys in a notepad file, one per program and kept in a folder separate form the program it self to avoid deletion accidents, so a simple copy n paste is all that's necessary for this sort of thing.

I do too, David -- for every program I have ever installed, and for several computer generations going back a fair way. Moreover, I keep a copy on at least two external devices. These of course include my many Corel programs. But for ease of reference for those who have registered the program, the Corel list of products with serial numbers is a quick and useful source...

Thank you, guys...I did go into the registered products section and found the serial number. Although it didn't work for some reason. Then I called support and unbelievably, they answered the phone right away. Then he gave me a link to enter the serial number in to download my VS version so I did and it didnt' work. But after about 5 tries, it finally worked so I'm happy now.
Thanks for the help and advise. Now I have it on the new machine and it's working fine.
