using test version for the 1st time problem

Post by MaxF91 »

Hello i decided to download the test version before buying to check if the app hasnt any weird bugs (im using X10 since 2 years ago because the last 2 version had bugs) and the 1st werid thing i see is that when i put in a project a 4k video to edit, on the preview the video doesnt appear (is just that, i dont know if you need an screenshot, it simply a black preview screen). This is not a preview only, when i convert the video, it also seems like a black video.

Often the test version has features missing or crippled and is therefore pretty useless in testing the program. You might be better off in waiting for the full version to be released, buy it and then you have 30 days to test it.

Max -- it would be useful to know if the 4K video used the HEVC codec. Right click the video in the timeline or the library windows and check its Properties. As you are probably aware, HEVC requires a Kaby Lake processor or better. I had some trouble with it and for a long while all I could get was black in the video timeline, though the audio would play. It's OK now, though. And as canuck has said, the trial version is often crippled, so HEVC might be one of the things which does not work properly...

As far as I remember HEVC needed the Windows Store app - "HEVC video extension" being installed. It was for free for a bit of a time, but now they charge like 1,99Eur.
HEVC 4k@60fps captured by my Samsung work very well and is available in the preview.
Best regards

just to let everyone knows, i did the 4k video on a previous VS version, and in that version the video plays normally. i will think in that "seeing how the full version works" thing.
