So whats the difference in the "Upgrade" against the full version?
I had opted for the upgrade but not sure if it's the full version that I will be getting?

There is no difference in the programs: just the price. The upgrade version is the full version so don't worry...

If you get the upgrade version, and you later need to reformat your hard drive and reinstall, can you install just the new upgrade version of VS, or do you need to install the previous version of VS first?

You don't need the previous version, though having the serial number of the earlier version might be useful...

I have done that many times, the Upgrade install on the fresh PC needed the Upgrade key from email. Nothing else.
