Videostudio Ultimate 2020 and multicam.

Post by Wairoakid »

I just installed my upgrade from 2019. Apart from a windows installer requestor in a foreign language appearing when installing the bonus pack installation seems OK.

I had upgraded my PC recently so now I have:

Boot drive PCie Samsung SSD 1 terrabyte
Intel I9- 9900K
Gigabyte Z390 board
64 gig DDR 4 RAM overclocked to 3200
Nvidia Geforce RTX 2060 Super 8GB
Window 10 64bit

The file rendering seems to be faster on 2020 than before on 2019.
I don't use many of the effects and editing but what I do use a lot is the multi camera function.

I had hoped this version would help with the problem I had with 2019 even with the new PC but it is still the same. When selecting cameras in the multicam tool in real time editing the preview window stops when I change camera selection although the audio continues and the video eventually catches up ( the bar below the preview continues to work OK and show correct camera selection . As the edit gets longer the delay gets longer say 5 secs on a transition. This does not seem to affect the final file as the transitions are as edited. I place the source files on the fastest drive NVE PCIe SSD.
I had thought that given the CPU, RAM and graphics card and fast drives I was well resourced to use multicam without any problems.
I dropped resampling to good from best and use hardware acceleration (CUDA)

I will try some overclocking of the i9 to see if that helps.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Videostudio Ultimate 2020 and multicam Resolved

Post by Wairoakid »

I have solved the Multicam slowness with camera switching posted previously. I had assumed that Smart Proxy would be creating proxy files for my 1920x1080 MP4 files and never checked the manager or queue.
I manually created the proxy files and the multicam works smoothly when switching.

I am having same issue and not familiar with proxy files. I clicked "Use Proxy Files", but is there another step? (I see you mentioned manually creating??). Thank you.

Hi
Smart Proxy files are created by the program to help in editing HD clips.
Go To Preferences (F6) Performance tab, here you can Enable Smart Proxy and set some properties if you wish
Also to enable from Settings – Smart proxy Manager
When are proxy files created
1 / when adding any clip to the top timeline, above a certain resolution, proxy files will be created, again check the settings on the Performance tab
2 / for clips within the library or on the timeline that have not had proxies created we can right click the clip for “Create Proxy Files”
Shift + right click to select multiple clips.
They do take quite a while to create so be patient.
Once created will show a small double icon on the thumbnail / clip.

Hope this helps
