Not sure what you mean by that, David. Joseph Lin's link contained what I think is a useful reference not mentioned so far here:
If the recommended solution does not work for you, I suggest to disable or delete the CorelUpdateHelper
1. Using the search box, to the right of the START icon from Windows, type: Task Scheduler and press Enter
2. Click on Task scheduler Library
3. Locate CorelUpdateHelperTask, right-click and select Disable or Delete
4. Locate CorelUpdateHelper TaskCore, right-click and select Disable or Delete
5. Click the X at the top right to close the dialog box

Not much help. The ads should be DISABLED BY DEFAULT, or at the very very very least, presented to the end user as an option at the time of installation.Ken Berry wrote: ↑Tue Nov 24, 2020 2:03 am Although posted in the PSP forum, you should read this recent reply from a senior Corel exec, suggesting a way around the ads:

Wouldn't have seen this except I got email notifications that there was activity on this topic I started -- found a better image editing solution. Need to find a better video editing solution.
Anyhow, I Laughed at this suggestion in the cited post's link back to Corel:
Unfortunately, the next time you upgrade, the problem will be back.If the recommended solution does not work for you, I suggest to disable or delete the CorelUpdateHelper
Pain in the sit down area!
Still learning, but here are a few of my favorite shots: https://www.500px.com/ccjr221

Re: COREL UPDATE HELPER SHOULD BE FLAGGED AS MALWARE!!!!
But it's quite simple to do, takes 30 seconds. Anyway, I'm trying it out now. We'll see tomorrow after a reboot if it works. I usually get two or three ads for different Corel programs a day... The biggest and most persistent is for Painter, so it will be interesting to see if a disabled CUH will also apply to Painter...
And if it does work, then it will be easy enough to repeat next time I install a new Corel product if that installation restarts CUH.

If it were not malware, it would offer you the choice to decline rather than having to go back and uninstall it.
Quite inconsiderate of Corel to foist this bit of garbage on its paying customers. Come to think of it, it's like I was paying them to install malware on my computer.

You are going back a few versions to X9 and the way we access the Corel Guide has changed
Try selecting the blue circle top right, post updated, there should be an orange icon as next post
Does that open the Corel Guide, if yes now select the cogwheel top right.

I also posted details of the PSP post here

Hi JMHaro55
What version of X9 are you using the latest auto update took us to 19.5.0.35, View Help About
Check for updates may help in updating to the latest version otherwise visit Corel web site
https://www.corel.com/en/support/patches-and-updates/
depending on which version you are using, you should try Corel VideoStudio X9.5
There does appear to be two more that could be manually installed
Attached image shows what i see using X9
