Help on Tool Colours and other issues

Post by rhapsodae »

Hello<

I have recently picked up psp 2020. And it seems a lot different from pspx8/x9 as I keep on running into issues I never had before.

For one, my floodfill does not want to ctrl+dropper was this disabled in this version?
It's pretty inconvient as every single tool is seemingly having their own colourscheme/remembered last used colours?

The workspace I cannot seem to "Lock" anywhere and I more often than not drag out my toolbars rather than adjust my sliders.

Last, but certainly not least is that I have an upgraded laptop that offers double the CPU and tripple the Ram I used to have but regardless of filesize it seems as if PSP2020 is lagging a lot.

I hardly ever post here but PSP2020 really feels like a leap backwards to me and I am looking for sollution here.

Ctrl works on the Flood Fill to produce the dropper. Have you tried resetting? This seems to fix a lot if ills.

Here are the instructions in case you need them. They reference X6 but work on all versions.

every single tool is seemingly having their own colourscheme/remembered last used colours?
If you want the colors selected to be consistent then over near the bottom of the Materials Palette is a check box labelled All Tools.
When you tick that then the colors you pick remain the same, unticked it remembers the last used colors for that tool.

Locking the tool options bar has been a request for som time or increasing the size of the drag bars . No luck so far in changing this. If it happens mostly while changing rge size of a brush , then you can hold the Alt key down and move the cursor up or down on the image to get the size changed quickly without having to use the bar under Brush size.

Others have also experienced a lag time and this may be associated with size of image, number of layers whether you have a large number of images in a folder, large number of images open at once, Autosave settings and maybe other settings. You may be able to do experiments to see if any of those combine to create lag time.
What are you doing when you notice the lag time ?

ta very much both, this helps a lot!

The lag is random, I use a high end gaming laptop and often focus on one task one picuture. So I dont have a buffer of items running, a game in the background or even a virus scanner active. There is no explanation for it as I didnt have this with x9 in the same workflow

Talking about this tool, can somebody explain to me what the use is of the Color Changer?
It either doesn't fill a layer or fills it with a new colour anyway. What is the benefit of the tool?

Thanks, Jean-Luc. I had found that one. But it doesn't make it any clearer to me.
The tool doesn't seem to do anything.
