Haven't you done so ever? this is a very basic editing procedure in any NLE for the last 30 years.

Re: Gripps Youtube videos
I just use the fade in/fade out feature available on all clips.
If I remember right, there was something different about the way Gripps showed it, it was for using two cameras and switching from one to the other seamlessly.

Re: Gripps Youtube videos
Hi Guys
Maybe a little confusion here......
It is possible that the tutorial was made with an older version of Video Studio that did not allow us to add a transition to the ends of a single clip on the overlay track.
The program would however allow us to add a transition between two clips.
The tutorial shows the second clip being cut and copied from the top video clip to create the second duplicate clip, now crossfade on the overlay track can be achieved.
I do not know which version first allowed us to add a transition to a single clip.

While I don't have my X2 copy any more.... I'm sure transitions were on overlay.
And if you still insist they came later...
These where since ulead mud huts

Re: Gripps Youtube videos
I do not disagree that we could fade on the overlaytracks using Customise Motion aka Direction and Styles
But the tutorial used A/B Transitions and Crossfade, the same effect could use any transition.
Using Transitions on the overlay track was not always available.
Always more than one way and i would think a FX filter may have done the same, maybe PinP

Re: Gripps Youtube videos
That was certainly my understanding when I made my tutorial, which was VS x4. As far as I knew, there was no "fade in/out" transition for overlay tracks. And, obviously, I didn't know about this until right now.lata wrote:Hi Guys

Re: Gripps Youtube videos
See how important those Gripps videos were! I wish I could get my hands on them once again. I kick myself for not having them backed up, thought I did.

Re: Gripps Youtube videos
Oh, that's great! Thank you so much Robert! I grabbed them, I see you have some mixed in from the "Freedom Earth Moon" guy, they are great too. Thank you so much!
I also need the videos did on Chroma Key, his green screen stuff. There was one video that he showed how to do a green screen masking effect, that showed how to place one actor in a scene with a double, the same person. It showed two of him passing a bottle back and forth. In another video, he demonstrated the Gradient feature. Anyway...thanks a lot for this! Dropbox works well for me.
