Not losing sync

Hi. I remember that there is a way to maintain the sync if you add something in the beginning of your project. I've seen this before and searched for it but can't find the topic. I know there is a button to click that will move everything forward together if you add a photo or clip in the beginning. Can someone help? Thanks.
