I'm new to this, but I'm having trouble with trimming clips - quite a basic operation! I can trim them by dragging the ends in the time line.
However, if I try single click trim I can create start and end points but when I click "OK" these start and end points don't take effect. Similarly, if I use the multi-trim option. In preview for the clip, the "in" and "out" markers are greyed out. The scissors work, so I can cut clips but trimming doesn't seem to work.
How do I "commit" my trim?

Re: Trim issues
Hi
I do not use the Multi Trim options but prefer to trim the clips on the timelines.
Yes we can drag the yellow trim markers but for accuracy we can set the cursor then hit F3 or F4
This web page shows some details, scroll down to Trimming Tool

Hope this helps

Re: Trim issues
When I'm looking at a clip in the preview, the trim markers disappear and the square brackets for start and end are greyed out. In project view, they're all available. So I don't seem to be able to trim a clip this way. I'm probably missing something, but I don't know what it is that I'm missing!

Re: Trim issues
Hi David
What type of clip are you using, I assume it to be a video clip
Have you applied any FX filters, if so is the FX option in the library still selected
If so select the Media icon at the top, then try trimming.

Thanks for helping!
Yes, it's video and there aren't any effects applied.
Thanks, David

Re: Trim issues
I was hoping someone might have some more thoughts on this. I did wonder if it was something to do with having a Xeon processor, but I see there are others here who have that.

Re: Trim issues
Hi David
Can you take a screen shot of the timelines so we can see just what you have selected.
As I say I don’t have any problems using the Mark-in and Mark-out F3 and F4 or square brackets.
Depending on what we have selected on the timelines or within the library will turn on and off the trim options which is why I mentioned the FX being selected.
A picture paints a thousand words so a screenshot or two may help.
