Rotopen
What format does Rotopen use for its symbols? I wanted to add a train and have tried jpg, png, tiff, bmp, and giff, but all of them leave a box around the image.

Re: Rotopen
Ordinarily, a png image - so you can see any background around it after insertion. If your inserted png image is displaying with a "white box" background - it probably isn't a true png file. And images 'captured' from the internet eg a youtube clip, are in this category. You would need to find a site that has png file for download.

Re: Rotopen
Hi Guys
Have you ever tried creating a PNG image to use in RotoPen
I can create PNG,s with a transparent background and work ok on the main timelines / overlay tracks but try to import the same image to RotoPen and it shows a black background.
Always been a problem but sure there was a solution although my brain have not woken up as yet.
If you have made a png that works in roto pen can you make that image available.

See if this very old post helps to explain how to create transparent tiff images that leave no background

Re: Rotopen
Thanks Robert
I guess i should have searched for that post.
I have been trying to use PSP with no luck I will try Photoshop
I did locate some transparent images here:-
C:\Program Files\proDAD\HeroglyphScript-4.0\clipart\app
then tried to modify them by adding other objects
Post updated
Photoshop does the job

Re: Rotopen
I see that David and I were too quick with the png's..
Will you try this tiff converted from the png.
It doesn't show correctly as overlay in X9 or 2018, but will it show correctly in your Prodad's Heroglyph?
The tiff shows correctly in VMS16 and VSDC but not in ShotCut or in Openshot

Re: Rotopen
Both appear to work on the main timeline overlay tracks
Load Image to RotoPen and the tiff shows a rather large red cross
The png loads to rotopen but has a black background
Is there a difference between tiff and tif, I can only assume similar to JPG and Jpeg

Re: Rotopen
I don't have Photoshop and was using Paint 3D, Paint.net, and Paint to convert jpgs to pngs, all to no avail. I did download Trevor's tiff clipart files and those worked perfectly. Thanks, Trevor! Where can I store these within Corel so they become available everytime?

Re: Rotopen
Hi Guys
Using transparent background images on the overlay tracks work ok, no problems there
But using the same in RotoPen do not work
The only way I have found as Robert pointed out , thanks Robert, is to use Photoshop which does save Tif’s that can be used in RotoPen
I have not found another program that will create a suitable Tif file, still looking.

If you have a Png that you need converting to Tif to use with RotoPen I will try to do that for you.
Can you attach the image to your post

Hi Trevor--Yes, I used one of the tiff format trains you posted and it worked great, but wanted to save it in Rotopen so I can use it again in the furute. Is there a folder within Corel where I can do that?

Re: Rotopen
After few tries, I was able to use this
http://hornil.com/downloads/stylepix/
to convert the png to tif that work fine as overlay.
I have this portable version for few years, give it a go Trevor. your CS6 file is RGBA and my tifs were only 8bit, but this new one is RGB Check the rotopen tiff files what color space they have.

Re: Rotopen
Hi Fred
There are 12 preset tif images/animations available to use with RotoPen but I do not know how to add our own to the list
Yes I can Load an Image to use in Rotopen but that does not add to the gallery, so the next time I use Roptpen I have to import again.
If you can locate the RP gallery tiff’s you could probably replace one with another but retain the same name, that may work but not ideal and risk corrupting the program besides breaking the EULA
Asik
Stylepix will convert to use Tif on timelines, but then Png’s work there anyway
Tiff made by Stylepix does not work with Rotopen
I wont be on the pc for the next 2 days so cannot work with Video Studio, then on Wednesday on holiday for 2 weeks, so wont be able to continue these tests
