handles.

Post by frankc »

I have what I think is an odd problem.

I have had many incarnations of psp over the years so I am quite used using the 'handles' to resize photos etc.

Just upgraded to psp 2020. When I select a photo with the 'arrow' cursor I get the handles appear in each corner. However I do not get a handle in the middle of the lines to make the photo larger/smaller/narrow etc.

When I select the corner handles all that moves is just that corner. In other words I select a corner handle and if I move/drag it I end up with one sloping line.

As I said before I have used handles many times before on past versions but this one is new to me. Before if I wanted to enlarge a picture I would click on the corner handle. Hold it down. Drag the whole picture to either shrink or expand.

If I wanted to make the picture wider I would click on the 'middle' line handle and make the picture wider or narrow. Same with bottom or top line to make it taller or shorter.

As I said before I can click and select a corner only. With that I can rotate the whole photo or slant one side. I also note the corner cursor now has a half moon icon to one side. What ever that means.

I am sure its something dead simple. I have tried the CRTL, ALT, SHIFT buttons and it makes no difference.

Where am I going wrong? Thanks

Sorted.

Always happens to me. I post a problem. Alters something in my head and I get the answer myself.

So for those out there searching for an answer in the future here is the solution.

Select the photo as before with the arrow cursor. Top left of the screen is a box entitled "Mode". Select "Scale" job sorted. :D

Thanks anyway!!

I must say you confused me with the "Arrow cursor" . As I understand it the cursor is the appearance of the position of the mouse on the canvas and you probably meant the Pick tool which actually has a 4 sided arrow as the cursor.
This I think was the Deform tool in earlier versions.

Surprising how many others have in the past and probably will in the future encounter the same (simple) problem and "mind blank" so thanks and appreciation for posting comments and the solution.
