Following the program acting up I have uninstalled cleaned my system, re-booted, then tried to reinstall from the original downloaded files. This is the result:
I have tried this several times with the same result each time.
How do I get the program working again?
I have been a user of PSP since before Corel owned the program and have never before had any serious problems.

You say "cleaned" but did you clean with Corel's cleaning tool?

Unfortunately, I don't think so since the cleanup tools relate closely to the files installed by specific versions of PSP. Hopefully someone might have a cleanup tool for PSP X, though I don't... In fact, I think X might have been the first version produced following the Corel takeover, but I don't really know if they produced cleanup tools that early... Our own forum shows cleanup tools dating from X4.

I have never even heard of a clean-up tool prior to this thread and have been using PSP since about V4 (I have been using PSP8 for some simple edits whilst I have been unable to install PSP2020. I keep it installed as there is one job it does better that later versions of PSP)

Thanks for the info Ken, guess I'll leave things as they are....
My Psp X sort of "disappeared" after one of the major Windows 10 updates...MS thought it was too old & totally disabled it, although up until that point I had no problems with it....

I can confirm that I have PSPX running on my Windows 10 system and I am totally up-to-date with Windows updates.

Yes, I too have all the windows 10 updates....
I'm pretty sure that it was the Fall Creators Update that caused my problems...my psp files were untouched but when I clicked on the Psp X icon, nothing would happen...so I uninstalled it but was unable to complete a re-install, it would stall out half way through the installation & shut down...
I hadn't been keeping up with the newer Psp versions so Psp 2020 is keeping me busy, but in a good way.... ...
