Just started using Corel VS 2019. PC suped up but I cannot continue using Serif MoviePlus x6 and TMPG enc Authoring software.
VS 2019 promises to do the whole job - chapters, menus, the lot. My first project is freezing when I reopen it.
When I started this project it was purely to stick 3 MP4 videos on a disc and send to my missus! I went straight to SHARE/ DVD and added three VS projects (previously edited for Chapters points). There is nothing ongoing in the EDIT page currently. I saved my first efforts and closed the project.
Come to restart and it freezes at the Share/ DVD point. No media showing.
If this doesn't work I will have to go to plan B and load 3 MP4 edited videos and do the same thing over again adding Chapters, etc. Help!

Re: Build a DVD in VS 2019 - First timer
In response to this dilemna I tried rendering to completion the 3 VPS files. That did the trick.
But there was still an issue.
Chapter points! I had set these very precisely in each project, or so I thought. Came to edit them in the DVD Output [1. Add Menu] page. All 3 sets of Chapter points were out of position and could NOT be edited. So I had to abandon that idea.
Next I imported the three rendered .mp4 files and began all over again. This time no Chapter Points appeared! So I used the [Add Chapter Points] manual process. A bit fiddly because of the small preview pane but I did it!
Then onto [2. DVD Menu & Preview] page. Found a good Menu template from [Disc Menu] drop down [2. Thumbnails]. There was a nice 3 chapter Main Menu page, which had to be text edited.
Then for the 3 Video Menu pages. These were obtained by clicking below the Preview pane. In dim script it says [Currently Displayed] with a drop down for each of the 4 pages. So now I edit each of the 3 video menu pages. This involves first selecting the [2. Thumbnails] 8 chapter page, then changing the text from <filename> to the customer view title.
Finally in each case I tweaked the preview start point for the opening video view. This involves clicking in the first of the thumbnails on the initially black frame. This opens up yet another tiny preview pane where you can select the starting point with a tiny Scrubber. You Click OK and the job's done..almost. Note that if you have more than 8 chapter points there will be a second hidden page which also needs text editing.
Now for the Preview button at the bottom centre of this page. Click here and you can virtually run the whole show to see how it looks. If you are happy then go to the final [3. Output] page using NEXT> button. Here you need to overwrite the Title of the Disk as you will see it on a PC Explorer view. Lastly insert a disc and decide how many copies. Click OK and disc should Render and Burn!
SUCCESS! Disc burnt OK!
PS. I just tried opening the Project to take some Screenshots for you and it just froze on the [Share] page. So there may still be an issue with the software or my installation?

Re: Build a DVD in VS 2019 - First timer
Hi
And welcome to the forums
You are best to convert / render your project to Mpeg2, it is Mpeg2 files that are used to burn all DVD discs.
1 / Open your project
2 / share - mpeg2 - MPEG-2 (720 x 576, 16:9, 50i, 8Mbps) should be suitable for a 60 min video.
3 / assuming that renders without any problems
4 / start a new project
5 / Share Create Disc DVD – opens the burner module
6 / Add Media add Video – top left of the panel – browse for the Mpeg2
7 / If you have added chapter-points within the original timeline you should be able to retrieve/show them
The first chapter point will need renaming, assuming you have named the others
8 / On the final page choose to Create a Disc Image, this will save an ISO to your hard drive, play that with VLC Media Player
Happy with that Burn the iso to disc

Thanks Trevor. That would have helped greatly at the start!
