Hi Granpaw Broon

I think I have found the problem, simply put you need to log into a Smart Sound account

Ok I have re-installed CVSX10 and Sonic Fire

I do see the evaluation panel to enter a serial number

At the bottom is “Already a SmartSound Customer? Which I am, I choose to log in
That accesses Smart Sound and installs some library content, after which the program runs ok
I guess I went through that process many years ago and once complete does not require doing again until I re-installed the program.

So do you have a Smart Sound account?

I took the plunge and re-installed to get the Evaluation panel again
Now I choose to Already a SmartSound Customer? Which I am, I choose to log in
That takes me to a Smart Sound page were I have the option log-in or to create an new account
I follow that procedure to create a new account, now I have two accounts, not to worry
The new account needs verifying via an email link

Back to Sonic Fire where I can log-in using my new account details
Sonic Fire opens ok

Post updated
Now accessing my SmartSound account has a MySoftware link that shows me having “Sonicfire Pro 6 free”
Also shows a serial number, mind you my two accounts show a different number.

Well done Trevor, I have now registered with Smartsound. If you go up to Help menu and select 'About', it shows a serial number and 21 days remaining in trial of timeline editor. Is that correct?

Hi
That is what I see, however before re-installing Sonicfire the About showed a serial number and the word Trial, there was no reference to any days remaining.
Browsing the Smart Sound web, go to the Help menu for My SmartSound Account goes here https://www.smartsound.com/backstage/?
I see a button for MY Software this shows "Sonicfire Pro 6 Free" and a serial number.

Only time will tell if the program continues to work but I think it will be ok

Yes, lata, mine does the same just below this:

Customize your SmartSound music online or install it on your computer for even more creative editing options. First download and install our Sonicfire Pro software or plugins, then download and install your music purchases.
If you click on either of the hotspots it gives details of the SonicFire 6 Free and SonicFire 6 Pro and what can be done with each one and allows you to update to version 6.4.4. The 21 day trial allows you to use the full pro version for that period but when it expires you can only use the five included royalty-free music tracks.

Is there a way to determine if Sonicfire is already installed, like naming a few of the music titles that get installed with the program and appear for selection in VideoStudio's UI?

If SmarSound is installed on your PC, you will find the program in C:/ProgramFiles(X86)SmartSound Software and music files and libraries in C:/ProgramData/SmartSound Software Inc.
